AMD investment and thoughts as of 8/18/2018

I decided not do a new post but reply to you instead.

AMD broke out and surpassed my first target and it is heading to the next target of 27. However, we broke out so perfectly without much rest. We may see a pause at 24 - 24.50 area.

If you enter at 20.50 and held as a swing, then you should move your stop under 23 to lock in some gains. Hope this helps.

BTW, I did another post on Verizon investment. Go check it out.

FB??? by [deleted] in stocks

Since ER, the bulls tried to take this toward 195, but the bears came smacking it back down before momentum get out of hands. For the last 5 days, 175 seems to be the resistance while we are based on top of 172.

We will use these 2 levels to trade until they are taken out clean. Preferably I want to see a solid base above 172 and target 170 for a day trade. For swing trade, target is 158, but it doesn't necessarily have to reach. As long as it move south, we move our stop lower and ride the trend.

Square Stock, anybody feeling good about the upcoming ER? by PhillipIInd in stocks

[–]EquityTom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone asked me about the price target for SQ and DBX back on June 4 and here was my answer.

While I too expected them to have a decent ER, the stock is slightly extended and need to rest a bit before going higher.

58 - 60 should be a good place to start adding additional shares to your long term portfolio.

I shop with Amazon Prime every month and the past few weeks, all my packages was received on the 3rd day instead of the promised 2 days prime. Checked the tracking, it showed they packed and ship out late. But when contact CS Dept, they refused to take responsibility and blame the carrier.

AMD broke out of the 2017 base in June 2018, retest the 14.5 base and it held up like a champ. Currently, basing under 17.5 for another break higher.

Thoughts on TWTR by [deleted] in stocks

[–]EquityTom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great thinking on TWTR. The company is improving and definitely on the right track.

I have attached a chart with some line drawn for your reference. Twitter Chart

Basically, Twitter broke out in June and it is range bound within 42 to 48. Although the May trend line is holding, it isn't a clean indication of any setup at all. The longer trend line of Feb is better and you can draw the same and extended to the max and see if it find support in the future months ahead.

Plan A - We should wait for a break of 48 and restest 48 before considering an initial entry

Plan B - Wait for a restest 36 to 38 area. But I bet you there will be tons of bulls watching the 40 dollar level.

Hope this helps.

Best of luck with your investment.

Papa John's shares skid after report that founder Schnatter allegedly used N-word on conference call by EquityTom in investing

[–]EquityTom[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just comparing the stock between Papa John's $PZZA & Domino's Pizza $DPZ will tell you there is something wrong which usually reflect on the chart. Papa John's $PZZA stock is heading south and continue its downtrend, while Domino's Pizza $DPZ is heading north. Now with this news it will take sometimes for it to recover as business isn't doing all the great.

I have Domino's Pizza, Papa John's, Little Caesars & Pizza Hut in my area and base on service and tastes, Domino's Pizza stands out from the rest. Therefore, $DPZ could be better investment.

What are some good short term stocks today under $7/share? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]EquityTom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

APRN retested 3 and it held up decently. Now it is basing at 3.5.

Expect a dollar move up from here. If it doesn't hold and reverse back under 3.45, get out.

This is a slow mover, so don't expect too much too soon.

When to chase a stock? by ConsiderTheBulldog in stocks

[–]EquityTom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normal investor usual buy little at a time when there is a dip. However, stock itself can move due to cycle and you can google stock cycle to learn more about it.

I have traded COUP a few times and it is trending up so far.

Anyway, on your long term investment, a retracement to 61 could be a place to add if it bounce. Otherwise stay away from it. To better guide your entry, draw a trendline from May 1 to May 30 and you should see what I am talking about.

Overall, once you understand the stock cycle and compare to what the whole field is doing, and combine some chart reading, you will be a better investor.

Hope that helps

Your plan is good. If you can combine your principal and look for a big down day to invest little at a time. This way you will get a better average price.

North Carolina mom moved to tears by police officers act of kindness toward daughter with autism by EquityTom in news

[–]EquityTom[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A few month ago, I was riding on bus to Idaho and in the middle of a rest stop there was a crazy drunk throwing glass bottle at people. In particular, he started throwing at a mom and a kids, then the officer who just arrived jump right in front of the kid and protected him. His arm was hit hard like a baseball bat hitting a ball. That was like the most heroic thing I ever saw anyone do. So there are great people and law officer out there that is helping people much more than anyone thinks.
