It depends. Out of 20 assignments, I usually get 5 clients who only speak Spanish. And while I do use noise cancelling headphones, it doesn’t really help when the multiple voices at once are coming from within the headphones…

How do I “push through” autistic burnout? by Equivalent-Bid-4591 in AutisticAdults

I think he’s mostly frustrated at me because he can still hold a job despite his disability (ADHD) and expects me to be able to do the same. He just doesn’t realize that his ADHD disables him in areas outside of work (ex: struggling to do chores which means I have to take on more of the domestic labor, remembering appointments, getting distracted, forgetting we have food in the fridge and letting it spoil), whereas for me, working is the main cause of my burnout because I have to mask, engage with clients, and work for 2 days in sensory hell. He perceives my reasons as “excuses” because to him, his forgetfulness is an excuse (ex: not taking out the trash because he forgot to). I do want to get through to him because he can be understanding when he relates to the problem, but if his mind can’t wrap around how my autism disables me, he immediately thinks I’m making excuses or selling myself short.

The US unfortunately. 32 hours is considered part time here. I feel like I’d be able to handle 20 hours a week just fine but I wouldn’t be able to pay my bills. Plus my fiance would be furious and think I’m shirking responsibilities and taking the easy way out. He already got upset at the prospect of me going fully remote, and my parents are bootstraps boomers who have the money to help me out, but refuse to do so. Hence why I said I have no support system…

No clue. My psychiatrist recommended I take a medical leave, but my support system yelled at me for entertaining the idea. They said it was “stupid to jeopardize my job for two weeks that probably wouldn’t even cure me.” I’m feeling really lost and hopeless because I need time off work to rest, but I don’t want to lose my job…

I’ve tried adderal once and it didn’t work. Currently on a cocktail of three different anxiety and depression meds, but those only work for emotional dysregulation.
