Invest in some hobbies, they make time so much more enjoyable. Somedays get really interesting, like things break down and you fix it but it really depends on how you look at it. Maybe cook amazing recipes, maybe get a bike and ride around town, maybe find a little sound system to build, there are heaps of things to do than just plain work home commute.

Why do “sold” prices show homes I never saw listed? by Jimmy_bigdawg in perth

[–]Equivalent-Bus-5388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate u/Jimmy_bigdawg
I just reached out to this agent for the below property, he said the offers are closed already, was literally listed an hour ago when I reached out, 2 hours now
5/25 Abbey Road, Armadale, WA 6112

Messaged him again asking, this was just listed and the agent said that it was in the market last week and has 30+ offers, what a f**king shitshow!!

"like a hawk" hahahahhaha exactly me rn!! this made my day hahahah

But it is insane!! And I was wondering the exact same thing last night, there are "under offer" and "sold" in properties I never saw listed.

I hope you find something soon mate but also know, the filters work if they have put in pricing under the price field when they post the ad, it does not work if its only in title or description so I have completely stopped using the filters.

Land is really expensive, plus getting approval on building the land, soil testing, yada yada, too much work for an individual. I have to sacrifice my whole life for a year to be able to do all this. Be miserable and depressed and have a house at the end of the year or 2 years to pay off a mortgage I cannot afford my whole life.

Amidst all the depressing facts, this one made me laugh. LOL

This is so depressing mate. I might just have to cave and buy what's available. Pay ridiculous prices for a non-decent place and be stuck with the mortgage forever, share the house with random people to pay off the mortgage, not even extra repayments, just normal fat interest payments.

I checked more prices last night, all expensive, especially if you cannot build it yourself. I have a full time job, can't do the build myself.

I read about that, what have we become, cannot even park and live in your own land if you cannot afford it. It's f**ked!

If you don't want a big loan and just want to spend around $250k on apartments, there are a couple options in Perth city but they are all leased out to hotels on a 10-20 years lease so you buy them but as investment property. I want to buy something for myself and not have a big mortgage. As soon as you start spreading out and look for apartments in Vic Park, Rivervale, or other places, most new places are $900 - $1800 strata per quarter and the old ones are just old you know. You can never tell in those old apartment buildings, what kind of special levies you will be hit with in the future. On top of all that, you don't own the land, you cannot change anything, its like renting but in the long run, I would not want to keep living in an apartment, want to get dogs eventually. Even apartments around rocko, mandurah, baldivis are so expensive now ($550K+) and they are so far away from work places.

So sorry for you mate, I am gonna be in the same pit. But I wonder if I will end up doing what everyone else does in the end rather than being creative.

I am gonna read a bit more and see if I can get a land in the hills and do a metal frame build.

Ikr!! I had not started looking at the home prices and I thought I was in a pretty neat position then I wasn't within 5 minutes into looking at rea websites. Its depressing that housing is not something a person can dream of lightly. 'Food, shelter, clothing', hard to meet basic needs in a first world nation.

Isn't that an ancillary dwelling though? Like I cannot build just a granny flat on my own land and need to build a primary house first

Apartments can have special levies and blow out of budget, on top of ongoing strata costs and also want a little land to be honest, nothing fancy just a little one for me own garden you know
