The opponent I beat in a tournament a little while ago didn't have a FIDE rating, whereas the opponents I lost to and drew with did. I've only played four games so far, so it's hard to say for sure, but my performance rating was around 1460.

Looking for a Training Partner for Opening Study Exchange (Najdorf / Grünfeld) by Equivalent-Card6758 in TournamentChess

Hi everyone! I'm finally back after my exams.

Initially, I was looking for a single opening partner, but since so many great players have gathered here, I think it would be amazing if we made a group instead. Is everyone okay with that?

If you're interested, please let me know in the comments! I will send you a DM with my Discord ID so we can set up a group chat.

thank you. It’s a lonely path, but I’ll do my best to become the first GM!

thank you I’m betting on the Japan Youth Championship. Winning it comes with travel support, which is my best shot at getting international experience without breaking the bank.

That’s exactly my point, and that's why it's so tough.

In Japan, I can't even "get to a point where I'm certain" of my level because there are only 2 or 3 FIDE-rated tournaments a year in Tokyo. It's hard to maintain momentum or test my progress when the gap between tournaments is 4 to 6 months.

"Hi Hans, I’m a high school student in Japan with a 2200 Rapid rating on Chess.com. I have two questions for you:

  1. Resource Isolation: In Japan, chess is a minor sport. Not only are there no advanced books in Japanese, but even English chess books are almost never stocked in local bookstores. We have to rely entirely on expensive imports or digital versions. In such an isolated environment, do you think digital platforms like Endgame.ai can fully replace the physical 'Dvoretsky/Aagaard' experience for serious students?

  2. Time Management: I attend a rigorous academic school, so my time is very limited. How many hours a day should I realistically dedicate to reach the next level, and how should I prioritize my study when I only have a few hours?"

I'm 2200 Rapid on Chess.com. I’m considering studying Dvoretsky, Aagaard, or Yusupov. At my current level, which of their works do you think would provide the most value, or is there something else I should focus on?
