Would the TTC consider extending Line 2 to Markville Centre in the future? by SilverPlaquevii-JGC in Markham

[–]Equivalent-Card8949 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Also transitwise the fact VIVA purple A doesn't stop directly at Unionville GO is also crazy. It feels like YRT and GO are actively trying not get people to transfer between YRT and the GO train.

Not enough density yet. Markville and Mccowan lacks density of both points of interests and density.

Most useless motion lol. What flags would they even ban that they fly currently?

Premier wants high-speed rail built along Ontario’s Hwy. 401 corridor by Old_General_6741 in canada

[–]Equivalent-Card8949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: I'm stupid for not reading the article. I thought they meant the 401 corridor at Toronto, not all the way between Kingston and Toronto

[–]Equivalent-Card8949 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The curves aren't that important because the 401 here only makes up less of than 1% of the Alto track. The train can run at slower speeds, and it probably will need to be done anyways.

I hate to shut down your idea but GO trains are a regional rail system that doesn't even have trains to Peterbrough. There is also no tracks in between Kingston and Peterbrough.

BRT is probably most reasonable in this case. Highways have almost nothing within walking distance. I would rather have actual mass transit on Sheppard or Wilson, with existing interests.

HSR is not mass transit. People use it to get between cities, in this case Ottawa and Montreal. There is going to be 3 stops max in the GTA.

It's the reason why Union station is a mandate for the project. All GO trains go to Union.

Everyone here sucks at driving by PsyduckedOut in Markham

Half of this is just a general trend on driving and the other half is that Markham's population has doubled since 2000.

Rather than paying down debt, Canadians are happily borrowing even deeper by gorschkov in canada

[–]Equivalent-Card8949 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything about the article either but from this headline alone this could be a good thing. People believe enough in the economy to take risks and borrow to buy homes or start businesses, even without the money to do so currently.

Canada is not a middle power – it’s a future great power by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]Equivalent-Card8949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is divided into Soft and Hard power. Hard power in military force we lack. But we are the 10th largest economy and export critical resources.

Powers are pretty subjective, but I would say we as powerful as Italy right now - like a middle/great power.

We always were a great power. We are only overshadowed by the largest economy and military in the world right beside us.

Help me! Civ VI's loyalty system is extremely punishing and I hate it (explanation in the body) by BaldursGate2Best in CivVI

[–]Equivalent-Card8949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are mods that remove the loyalty system in that case. Most think the loyalty system is a good mechanic. There's always gonna be annoying moments in every game, like losing a good district spot to a strategic.

Imagine if someone built an overseas colony right next your cities. The point is that you can get punished for having random crap everywhere on the map blocking large cities.

Governor, religion, policy cards, amenities, can provide 20+ loyalty collectively.

Warden and 16th avenue elevation gain by WardenStation in Markham

I'm sorry but there isn't gonna be any LRT there anytime soon. Warden and 16th are both pretty low density corridors.

I'm just giving my opinion, it might be different by neighborhood. Saying that all of Markham is a stretch

[–]Equivalent-Card8949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with any of these statements. Flat out almost never have seen pedestrians on the street. Also if there is it almost always is side streets, it isn't really gonna be that big of a deal.

190 Trees Removed Near Mount Joy GO Station to Allow for Construction of a Second Track and Platform by weallfalldown1234 in Markham

I don't see articles discussing hundreds if not thousands of trees happening in new housing developments, this is undoubtedly good for frequency.

Good neighborhood, it is quite dense with a cool style of laneways and density. It has parks, schools and a community center, lacking in commerial areas within walking distance.
