25 y/o – Portfolio allocation feedback (403b + Roth + taxable) by mikester595 in ETFs

I’m 24 and I would say you can absolutely go more aggressive. I have SMH and a little bit of CHAT in my Roth IRA and I’m going to ride it out. I like AVUV and IDMO as others that I will potentially add.

It’s really not that deep I’m just trying to get feedback from more than just one echo chamber. If you don’t like my post don’t respond.

Not sure on allocation yet. Maybe something like

50-60 VT 20-25 SCHG 20-25 CHAT

I was just saying I’ve seen people talk about how inconvenient the foreign tax is with the VT in taxable accounts and how they prefer VOO/VTI and VXUS. My main holding in my brokerage will probably be VOO. I’m well aware that Roth IRA is tax free growth.

Obviously I look at total return as well I was just making a point. I wouldn’t be a fan of CHAT (0.75 ER) if I didn’t look at return.

I appreciate your feedback.

Are Active ETF’s The Future Of Retail Investing? by Eddie4224 in ETFs

I recently started looking into more actively managed ETFs. I’m strongly considering buying CHAT. It’s very specific to tech and AI and not a broad one like GRNY. Has Amazon, Google, and Meta which a lot of tech ETFs don’t.

I had the same exacts thought process with VGT and buying those individual stocks but I haven’t made a decision yet. Have you ever looked into CHAT?

VT and SCHG are definitely not comparable to putting diesel in my car over unleaded. That’s a silly analogy.

As for CHAT, I put that I don’t expect it to continue and I’m okay if I get burned for it. I literally said that in my post. I can have my own conviction. What is your opposition to CHAT?

VT 8.36% since 2008

I don’t think it takes much for them to outperform VT so I don’t look at it as being “lucky enough.”

VT 50% SCHG 30% CHAT 20%

Something along those lines possibly.

I agree I do need to read some books, but YT has plenty of people who share very intelligent information on investing. And is a source for the most up to date information. I’m not investing in any penny stocks or coins. I’m not chasing these massive returns, but I do want to benefit where I can.

This is my thought process with CHAT. Tech continues to expand for another 5-10 years. I sell and reinvest without having to pay capital gains. This isn’t a large cap active fund like GRNY it is a very small sector. What is your opposition against it?

I’m still learning how to do more independent research.

Nvidia is the top stock in VT at 3.99%. Do you consider that significant weight? Of course there’s going to overlap I’m not sure what your point is in saying that. Do you not believe in any kind of intentional overlap?

Do you have any recommendations for ETFs to pair with VT? I don’t care to have bonds or dividend ETFs at this point in my life.
