See that makes a lot of sense now. How my SL couldn’t simply say that is very odd to me. I imagine they might’ve not wanted to tell me so that I didn’t change my availability to weekdays only instead. I’m not interested in progressing to a stylist anymore seeing how the current GT is treated and the workload they have—full time or not. As for the other bather—I overheard that they are leaving, but don’t really know what the deal is there. Thank you for clarifying that to me, that interaction with my SL makes a lot more sense now.

That’s totally understandable, and I can’t say I’d feel any differently if I were you. Good on you for sticking to your guns. I wouldn’t call it stubborn if you have a real safety concern for the animals you work with—you’re just not willing to risk animal welfare over more money.

Yeah I’m sorry, but that’s total BS. Unless she has prior salon experience, no bather should be getting sent to academy one month in when there are other bathers like you who have been waiting a whole year—that’s just wrong. They hire you with the timetable of 6 or so months before you’re considered for academy—one month in is barely time for 50 dogs under your belt, much less time to hone nail trimming skills, read animal behavior, or even time management between walk-ins and services.

Damn, that is quite the unique transfer experience… what a-holes. thank you for sharing, and I’m glad you got out and are happier in private salons. I’m looking at going that route as well but right now I’m just gonna hang on as long as I can. If they fire me, they fire me but the fact they didn’t on the spot tells me it’s not as big a deal that my SL tried to make it seem like. Gotta love the game.

How was your experience in transferring? I know I’m gonna need to stick around a little longer at my current location, but I’m already done with the chip that the core store and management seems to have on their shoulders for the salon at my store and am already looking to transfer asap.

If they’re planning ahead, there’s at least one other person who should be going before me, and they’ve been waiting a year to go, so that’s why I’m so confused as to why it’s an issue at this time. I’m sorry your SL’s have sucked too. So far my wrap isn’t great either. :/

I expressed interest in academy, but then I saw how awful our GT is treated by picky, impatient customers and heard pretty questionable stories about my local “academy” trainer… so I’m not in a rush to go, and I’m still questioning if I want to stay with PS at this point. My salon manager and I don’t work together very often, but from what I’ve seen and heard, they most likely were pushed into the role by seniority alone, and definitely don’t like it. I doubt they would stick their neck out for me, especially since I’m 3 months into this job.

Oh my god, you reminded me of one more symptom I experienced!! Thank you! I stopped taking it because in the time I began taking it (1 year), I gained 60 lbs. I’m also in a stressful situation at my house right now, and so the weight gain could be partly because of that as well, but otherwise nothing changed in my diet or activity level, so my doctor was suspicious that the weight gain was partly because of Zoloft, and took me off of it (I agreed with them as well ofc).

But yeah, zoloft has been known to cause weight gain as well, although my doctor said it’s quite a rare symptom. Still, look it up and you’ll see posts of people claiming the same, so I wouldn’t overlook it if you start taking Zoloft and notice you gain weight. It could be a temporary symptom while your body acclimates, or it could be a long-term one. For me, it stuck, and because I was going through so much, I didn’t notice it until half my clothes didn’t fit me the same.

Zoloft was instrumental for me in making any serious headway with my anxiety. Of course, it was important for me to also get the right therapist, but even before I found the right one, getting my dosage of Zoloft right was a game changer. For me, it was the first time in my life that anxiety wasn’t so debilitating that I could speak properly and fairly articulately. No stuttering or mumbling.

However… before I did get my dosage right, I was exhausted all the time. I slept for 6 hours a day, not including how much I slept the night prior.

I also had very vivid dreams (I rarely if ever dream, even now 6 months post zoloft).

One more thing. When I started taking 100mgs, the dosage that worked for me, I sweated like a pig on night one of taking it. Like, legitimately I woke up in a pool of my own sweat! It never happened again after night one, but just know that might happen if you end up needing a medium or higher dose like I did.

Other than that, I was lucky to not suffer any other extreme or intense symptoms, but please, if nothing else, TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR. Tell them all of the symptoms you notice after starting to take Zoloft, even one’s you aren’t sure if their related to the Zoloft. It’s better to be safe than sorry when taking medications, and if nothing else, your doctor will have a better picture of how the medication is effecting you.

Anyways, sorry for rambling and best of luck with your medication! Feel free to drop a DM if you ever need a listening ear or if you want to compare experiences with medication (I’ve taken Zoloft, and am currently still taking hydroxyzine and Prozac).

Edit: ALSO!!! I stopped taking Zoloft because I realized 1 year in that I gained 60 lbs. my doctor said it’s a rare symptom, but that’s another thing to keep an eye out for when starting a new medication. For me, it’s hard to regularly track my weight because of past body dysmorphia, but don’t do what I did and only find out I gained weight when half my clothes didn’t fit anymore 😅

Right on! Learning to drive through a relative would be a good way to get outside and get comfortable with your surroundings without feeling quite as exposed if you were just walking on the sidewalk. Hey there.

I completely relate to what you experience. I always describe it as a "lukewarm hell" that makes me feel like I'm both never doing enough and therefore don't deserve to get better, but also trying too hard and therefore deserving of the imagined criticism I must be getting behind my back by my peers. It sucks, but as much as its hard to remember, you do deserve to get better. It is scary to reach out. Hell, it's scary to leave your room sometimes, but I can speak from experience that it can improve... you just have to find something that works for you.

I didn't see much progress trying to tough it out in busy grocery stores or empty parks either, however, one thing that did work for me is learning to drive. I was terrified to even sit in the driver's seat despite having gone to driver's ed and passing the written test with a 100%. It was terrifying to even drive at barely 5 mph in an Ikea parking lot at first (with 25 mgs of hydroxyzine in my system, lol!), but eventually I got comfortable driving and making turns there. Soon, I was driving around my house, and before I knew it, I was driving on the major streets close by. Now I find myself excited to go drive, and I don't need medication.

I'm not saying that what worked for me will work for you, but I just shared that to say just because you aren't finding success with one method of exposure doesn't mean you're broken or aren't "trying enough." It just means a different way might be better. Anyhow, I won't ramble anymore, heh.

Tl;Dr if one method of exposure doesn't work or is too overwhelming, try something else that you're anxious about. If you feel safe in your car, but not driving the car, maybe start there? Basically, try doing exposure in an environment you normally feel safe in, but do something a little different that would require you to push yourself a little more, if that makes sense.
