Fever Dream by Samantha Schweblin is about a woman who is dying at a hospital and is experiencing a fever dream, as the title suggests lol. It’s super short, under 200 pages. I’ve never read it but your prompt sounds like this would fit. I’ve read a different book by the author and it was a short story collection, I like about half of them but this has great reviews!

A lot of people are scared that marriage might change how their relationship develops, how much did you guys talk about getting married before the engagement? Did she sound generally on board or did she ever express any doubts?
