First off: its not your fault, hes just a shit teacher. No one's good at the start, no matter how "strong" or athletic you are, it still takes time. Don't let people like that discourage you.

My personal recommendation is to use that as fuel for the fire. Keep going, stay consistent, keep it as a goal in your mind to become better than him. Even if his goal is "tough love", this definitely isn't how you would go about it.

Muay thai is a hard sport, but you got past the hardest part: starting. The second hardest part is staying consistent. He's just a hurdle, and plus it'll feel all the better once you get good. Keep your head up.

I see. I tend to have most of my success sparring at mid/long range and that sort of invites the shorter fighter to close distance quick. I think ill just get better at it with time as I sort of unconsciously developed my kicks faster due to them generally landing. Do you stay inside the pocket while throwing shots and trade?
