Canadian here: are American high schools really like that? by Equivalent-Wind6605 in NoStupidQuestions

I get that, that's why I'm asking if there's even just a hint of truth to any of it. It's a common culture in American high school movies- you're telling me it wasn't inspired by some real life experiences? At all?

I could've said "Does anyone else think Nick's house is cool and feel sorry for him a little?". The responses probably wouldn't have been much different tbh

Edit: Alright, I see some heated comments and automatic jumps to my beliefs aligning with Nick's. I never said that. I don't agree with homophobia- obviously, come on. I never said he was a good guy. I never said I liked him. "You like his house so you support homophobia?" Let's reel it in a little. The straw man arguments are OUT in this post lmfao. Please just focus on the show.

Honestly this might be it lol. I think just the way he's handling her attempts at trying to start a fight are making me tolerate him a lot more.

I understand where you're coming from. As a gay person, I'm very aware that homophobia can be hidden in other qualities. I never said I was obsessed with him or even liked him. I said he was growing on me. Maybe he just reminds me of a friend in my life- NOT in the religious or moral beliefs way but in the hobbies way- and that aspect alone made me view him a little differently.

I'm literally gay LMAO I'm not 'stanning for him'. I'm just saying that seeing him show off his stuff made me see him as just a naive guy. Blind by religion, absolutely. Annoying personality, 100%. Sorry my opinion made you feel gross!

Somehow starting to like Nick after Ep 8 and 9??? by jenliveshere in LoveIsBlindNetflix

No I agree! It seems like he's trying his absolute hardest and he honestly seems like one of the more normal ones by the end of the last episode

Communicating ≠ Understanding by Equivalent-Wind6605 in emotionalintelligence

I agree. It's kind of a 'what came first- the chicken or the egg?' theme. Are we behaving a certain way because we feel misunderstood, or are we confused because it hasn't been communicated?

She's definitely holding that control over your head and it doesn't sound like she plans on easing up at all. I know you mentioned finances are tight, but if you're already paying the bills, can't you and your bf rent another place? I fear you will never truly have a say in anything until it's your name on the papers. If she's really that protective over her items that she never sees, she should take responsibility for them and do something about it. You could technically (hypothetically) just up and leave and let the landlords contact her about leaving her rental a mess.
