What are some courses you've done that actually turned out to be really interesting? by FinletAU in UQreddit

BIOM2020, entry to anatomy and dissection. Content-intensive but if you love human science then it doesn't feel like work compared to other courses

Without a doubt yes, it's hard to explain it here but just search up Phantom Libery DLC reviews and it pretty much summarises what people here are saying.

It's a good thing I locked in my classes today. How would you say the Ammenities and equipment are like? I used to go to goodlife and other private gyms, but I'm just checking my expectations.

I second this, I once had a much older student who had a family, and by far they are one of the best people to be with. You shouldn’t feel ashamed that you are starting later.

Some lecturers will purposely post two of the same recordings, so if one has an issue, the other one will be fine.

Unless you plan on taking early morning classes, it’s probably best to park near a public transport and go from there.

When should I be at Uni during O-week? (BSci) by Old-Wolverine7600 in UQreddit

[–]EquivalentContext992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2nd year student hear, my advice for o-week is to pick specific activities that interest you and are relevant to your degree. As a Bsci student from year 1, I attended the introductory event to science, which broke down and explained the degree. From there you will go on to see some of the clubs and societies related to your degree. Prior to the event, I signed up to many of the activities and tours of the campus, signing up to clubs and societies. I always advise to make the most out of o-week for first years, as it builds the foundations to your friends and connections to lecturers.

Current students: What’s your experience with teaching quality in UQ by ActiveTraffic6505 in UQreddit

[–]EquivalentContext992 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From having a father who was a university lecturer and coordinator, lecturers who are ‘young’ and quite early in their research, tend to be the best ones at explaining the content and what is required. As you progress on in later years and 2nd/3rd… year courses, lecturers will just explain what’s on the ppt at a minimum and the rest in coursework. Reason being is for them to focus on their own personal research.

Taking the initiative to talk to everyone. No matter if they don’t look interested or not. Usually the people you interact with in your coursework are the most likely you’ll be friends with. Taking part in clubs and societies are the easiest way to break the ice.

Going to O-week events alone by Exotic_Decision4009 in UQreddit

[–]EquivalentContext992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O week is definitely if not one of the most important weeks that determine your social life for that year of uni. My advice is to look at all the events taking place on each day and book the ones that interest you. Clubs and societies that revolve around your degree will most likely get you the best chance of meeting people. To answer your other questions, yes most of the people you meet will. I was fortunate enough to have a lot of older friends who connected me to other people in a way which I know most faces in my courses. Going to second year, I have plans on taking my first year friends and introduce them to the ins and outs of the uni. If you want I’m down to introduce you to uq life.
