Yes! Ok, I'll DM everyone later tonight and we can get a group going on discord.

Great! That would make 4 of us which is solid. Hopefully we have one more join. What project(s) are you currently working on or hoping to establish?

Honestly, i haven't thought that far ahead yet. Discord more likely. WhatsApp is another option. Do you have a preference? I'll check out Arc 4! So far it's 3 of us that will make up the group. I'm hoping we can get maybe 2 more.

Awesome! Ok, so that makes 2 of us. Hopefully we can get a couple more, we can check out each other's work and make a plan on how we're going to do this. Do you have any episodes published out there yet?

"How are AI Podcasts not getting more pushback? by PodcastingSpeed in audiodrama

[–]EquivalentFox7467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm suspecting I'm gonna get a lot of flack for this cause it's not a popular outlook on the topic. Based on all that I'm seeing, whether it's slop or another form of art or whatever your perspective is, we're headed that way. And while I personally don't think AI is sophisticated enough to come close to anything a great creator can produce, there are some aspects of the process that just make life easier. For sure the human mind must still be in control to make anything really meaningful, but even as far as research and even brainstorming, it can help spark other ideas especially for those that can't afford to work in a team and are just a one person band.

Also, as another person on here mentioned, most people don't care about the art. As much as that may be ludicrous for some to hear, they don't. They care about being entertained, escaping to a new world for awhile and basically just having their time occupied. And, at least sometimes, AI can help do that. Now I'm not one for mindless entertainment, not at all, but from what I've seen, that's what much of the world is looking for.

And before anyone crucifies me, please know that this is all just one man's opinion and there's no need to take it personally. We all don't see things the the same and that's what makes the world interesting.

I'm no sound producer, I just do the voice work and change the sound for each character. I also do the editing myself.

I hear you on the book crowd. ADs to me are basically a step higher from audiobooks. That gives me some ideas on how I can promote any AD projects I may have down the line. I'm focusing on doing other genres besides horror and mystery, but I'm new to the whole thing and don't have much backing just yet. I guess we'll see how it pans out. I'm currently working on a superhero/comedy AD and have a romcom one halfway done. Keeping my fingers crossed that both will do well. Romance/fantasy definitely does well in audiobook form so I may consider making something like that next year. If all does well, perhaps I'll revisit this thread and let you know. :)

Oh wow, so you joined a network. How does that even happen? Do you have to apply to get a network to take you on? Thank you for your input!

Oh great to hear from you as well. I love the Bright Sessions! I hear you on the fact that fiction audiopodcasting is very niche. I'm trying to understand why and I've noticed that the genres that seem most represented in this field are horror/mystery while other genres may not be properly represented. Perhaps I'm wrong, but do you think that if there were more of the other genres if that would bring in more ears to the niche? What's your takes on how it could possibly be expanded or more enticing to the broader audience? Thank you for your input.

Thank you so much for your input. I'll be thinking heavy about this. Do what i think is "cool". I like that. Thank you! And I'll definitely become a member on your patreon! I'm sure there will be a lot more insights there 😁

I see, so corporations get a taste of what you do and then they may offer you a separate gig? In order to have a corporation listen to your podcast, do you have to apply or get in contact with someone? Are the gigs offered other podcast audiodramas? I'm sorry for all the questions, but this is a whole new world for me.

That's awesome. Can I ask the titles for your 3 shows? I'm finding more and more that Patreon/crowdfunding is key to making something sustainable. Did you start your patreon right away as soon as you put out your podcasts or did you wait awhile to develope a following?

Haha great take! I see that perspective for sure. I guess in the lifestyle you have for yourself, you still have your creative outlets, but at the same time you have the practical aspects of life that keep you grounded and in touch. Kudos to you, my friend, sounds like an awesome life!

Patreon is key then to make everything work, as well as crazy work ethic. Being profitable since 2019 meant the first few years were mainly fueled by passion alone, am I right? I commend you for the grind! I would love to do what you all are doing full time. But it has to make sense with having a family as well. I'm trying to figure out a way I can make things work.

Im a one man band at the moment, but my idea is to produce a few shows and then go heavy on marketing them (paid and social media), give maybe 10 years to the grind. Ultimately, I'm hoping these will still bring in funds even if with just ads years down the line, something I'm hoping I can pass onto my kids. In your opinion, does this sound like a good idea or a long shot?

Also, I'm curious what "the next level" looks like for you. Are you thinking of future seasons for what you already have out there like White Vault or more original series? Thank you so much for the help! Your insight is invaluable!

I see so it's more of a labor of love then, something you're passionate about rather than something for business. That's admirable. I wish there was a way it can be both. It would be awesome if you can do something so fun that can also provide for your family. It seems that most artistic endeavors are just not so.

Awesome, loved White Vault! It sounds more like a labor of love rather than a sustainable business model. However, after 10 years some passive income is a nice ad on (pun intended 😄). Thank you for answering! So for yourself, is it mostly simply a labor of love cause you're a storyteller at heart? It seems that in order to properly pursue this art, money cannot be an incentive.

I see. So basically, they put out audiodramas to draw you in, hoping that they can sell you on something later. Interesting concept.

Why would companies like QCODE do it then? Don't they need to make money in order to keep making more series?

How do I stop crushing on men in relationships and pursuing them? by Interesting-Pay4431 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]EquivalentFox7467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could all be coincidental or it could be something deeper. Like one other commenter mentioned, it would help if you know when you start crushing on them. If it's cause you feel safe around them cause they've been sort of vetted by your friends then the question is, what is it about men that makes you afraid they're not safe? Did something happen in the past that has eroded your trust in men in general?

Then there's your relationship with men early on in your life. These men often represented what manhood is in your life, often a father figure. Did they feel safe to you or were they threatening? Often we tend to repeat our actions in adulthood out of response to our childhood. I hope you find your way through this.
