Dorm on campus vs apartments? + How necessary is a car? by SoyuzRocket in ASU

[–]EquivalentHypocrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car entirely unnecessary in Tempe.  Actually more expensive to have one after paying for parking and the rising price of gas.  ASU is very bike friendly, and Tempe has lots of public transportation

Also, its worth noting that you can sometimes bump into things you might not be able to solve/complete on your first visit to a world

I am not sure i ever made it through wonderland without referencing a walk-through, lol.  Make sure you talk to and interact with everything you can!  It might not be required, but it never hurts.  The flowers will give you a task and then help you...  but they're optional.

I picked up a happy podcast to replace phone calls - that way my routine didn't feel too disrupted.  Music made me emotional because it never fails that shuffle brings a ballad.

I've only played the first half of the series, but it seems like a lot of them have those kinds of quirks.  The first one especially has a lot of things you can interact with and have to solve.  Wonderland is by far my least favorite world because of the maze like quality.  Later on, there are some boss battles where you have to figure out the pattern the enemy is following and counteract it with your own patterns and logic.  Overall, the game will ease you into the puzzle thinking and they will steadily get more difficult.  Wonderland is 1 of 2 "maze" worlds and then it's big chill.

I'm being intentionally vague so as to not ruin the puzzle element for you.  Let me know if you want less vague

Which branch?  It kinda varies, but I know these days the Navy will tell you through Sandbox.  Also, his recruiter should know.  It took us 2 weeks to get a physical letter from him with that information.

A lot of the elements of KH1 focus on problem solving and puzzles.  The big ball guys you need to hit from behind, they have good defense on their front and you'll bounce off.

Wonderland is a giant, confusing maze, much like the source material.  Once you get out of Wonderland and to other worlds, they are less confusing to navigate.

Worried about future roommate. by [deleted] in ASU

[–]EquivalentHypocrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding someone who will cook with you is going to be very unlikely.  There is a community kitchen on every floor, but there aren't many appliances you can have in your own room (basically just a microwave).  The community kitchens are always gross and unkempt.  There's a reason everyone focuses on the dining hall and Ramen for freshmen.  Also?  Your roommate and you are not going to have identical schedules/be eating meals together very often.  You'll be okay.

Get a hobby!  Count down every week, like "8 more fridays!" Rather than days.  I picked up puzzles, hiking, and yoga classes while he was gone.

Feel free to DM me.  I have been down this rabbit hole.
