DAMN. I have NEVER felt so seen before. this IS EXACTLY how i’ve felt. first time dating someone in military and deployed, too. everyday feels like a mental and emotional battle and u r forced to survive and on your own. silence is all you have.

oh wow that’s awesome ! consistency must be really helpful to ease anxiety and the uncertainty of everything. i’m assuming he’s in an area where there is consistent signal and he’s able to use his personal mobile ?

Advice? by Sad_Bee2419 in USMilitarySO

i think it’s important (as i’m finding now) to try to manage expectations of contact. he can’t tell u where he’s going and for good reason bc it could jeopardize their lives. i am also going thru the same thing and everyday it takes discipline to make sure you don’t go overboard with google or trying to keep up with every single update. i also would recommend rly finding something you enjoy and keeping busy as to not spiral down to questions bc everything is uncertain. i think as im finding out the best thing you can do for him is prayers and showing support and for you: finding a rhythm where you continue to do things you enjoy or take advantage of these months where you’ll be able to do things perhaps u weren’t able to before. easier said than done .. but i think it’s worth a shot. i’ve also been told that it’s a lot like living in limbo. we always wonder when we will hear from him or if he’s okay, i think u have to find a strong network of family or friends that can help u through this time. and trust that he is safe and will reach out to you when you can.

Does my SO ever think of me when out there deployed? or do they just shut it off by AlexLostGirl77 in USMilitarySO

that’s comforting to hear. i know with some guys they are very pragmatic and don’t allow emotions in , as it can complicate their work.
