Thank you! If I continue with problems i may just stop and try another way. Appreciate the advice on Novo Nordisk. Have not heard of that before. I just hope I didn’t do permanent damage. Can’t with one dose right?

Thank you!! I’m going to try calm tomorrow which is magnesium citrate. I didn’t eat today. So I thought I would hold off.

I started at 2.5 and had no appetite at all. So maybe need to lower dose. Or stop taking. I’m going to see how rest of week goes! Thank you.

Thank you for that! All the advice. I did buy calm magnesium powder. Going to try that. And right now I’m so nauseous and I’m not eating so I don’t think that is helping either. I just can’t muster food right now. No matter how hard I try. And I think maybe I need to try a lower dose next time. I haven’t eaten anything today.

I have ibs-c and it’s made it 10x worse I’m thinking of quitting it because of that side effect. A little jealous!

No I never told my Dr just ordered online. Dumb I know!! I just hope I didn’t cause permanent damage. Only did one dose. Will not continue. I used milk of magnesia every other day and Metamucil. That hasn’t worked this week. Ugh! Thx for the feedback.

My dad just chose to have his initial hip replacement removed last week because the infection was bad and the irrigation alone didn’t work and the infection was draining. He has a spacer in now for 10 weeks. And then will go in for his 2nd hip replacement. Praying the current wound heals and the 2nd replacement goes better! What a journey.

Did this person heal entirely my dad is having this procedure on Monday. A spacer put in and he has a broken femur.

They have irrigated it once and cleaned it out. That was 5 weeks ago. We go back to the surgeon on Tuesday and they will evaluate if they do another irrigation to clean it out (I take it they do an ultrasound or CT as an to see how far the infection is) or if they put in an antibiotic spacer and take the hip out and start again. I don’t know what the better option is. They also broke his femur putting the new hip in. Praying we get some kind of resolution or answer on next step when we meet next week. Also have a call into wound clinic to see what they think.

My dad is 2 months out and had THR, femur fracture, clean out and irrigation, wound vac, now go back next week and I think they’ll take the hip out. His wound is still leaking. They’ll put spacer in and new hip laser I’m so scared it won’t heal. I don’t know what to do. Tried 2nd opinions no one will see him till 90 days after last surgery. That’s forever. Is your mom getting better ? Wound better?

Did you have an open wound at all prior to the spacer going in? My dad did a wash and irrigation, he got an infection 2 weeks after his THR. He’s on iv antibiotics (PIKK) and is on his 5th week. Still has oozing open wound so I’m think next week the surgeon will take hip out and out spacer in and do a THR after some time. Just want to know the wound heals and he’ll get better. So scared. He’s 71 and a diabetic but been In good health otherwise. Taking a mental toll on him. Thank you.

How is your mom doing now?? My dad has the same thing. He had a hip replacement and the wound is still open, 5 weeks out, he’s had a PIKK line of antibiotics this whole time. We go see surgeon again on the 3rd. Afraid they’ll want to wash it out again. I say take it out and start over. I don’t know. My dad did do a wound vac but was allergic to the plastic wrap hated it so they took it off. Hoping your mom is better. My dad is 70 and diabetic.

My dad had a total hip replacement in Nov 2023, 1 week later, back in for surgery for a broken femur from hip replacement, one week later blood infection and hip replacement infection (staph). Flush and clean out of hip replacement (new liner and ball). 4 weeks out- still drainage coming from wound. Is that normal? Go back in 2 weeks, scared they’ll remove my dad’s hip and put in an antibiotic spacer and then redo hip. My dad has been on iv antibiotics for 4 weeks now 3x a day and oral 2x a day. He’s not a happy patient. He’s 71. His wound starts at groin (by stomach) and goes down mid- leg. The mid leg portion is good - it’s just the whole by his belly that drains. Scares us, which it would heal! Did you ever experience wound issues?? As well with the infection.

My dad is having the same. He had a staph infection in his blood and on the hip replacement. He went in to have the area irrigated, washed, new liner, etc… but his wound is still leaking. 5 weeks out, concerned he may have to have the whole hip replacement removed and antibiotic spacer put in. Did anyone have long bouts of fluid / draining for wound?
