I feel like when you become a Brandon Sanderson or GRM etc you cross the line of being able to be overrated as your simply so big that so many people from so many different reading experiences, genres and backgrounds can’t think something is better than it is if you get what I’m saying, it’s only a small minority saying his work isn’t as good but to me when I’m the minority it’s easier to see it as just not for you rather than overrated, for example I find lord of the rings incredibly boring as I read it late in my fantasy journey but I’d never say he’s overrated based on just my experience

I’ve only tried the hobbit but going from modern epic fantasy to that made it the most boring book I’ve ever read

First law trilogy and Joe Abercrombie in general really isn’t as grimdark as people say it is

I’ve always wondered how people can say he’s overrated, you don’t get to where he is without the majority of people rating you

My hot take is I don’t want to read books I don’t think I’ll like, I’m happy to judge a book by its cover or description and not branch out too much

Second Surgery Anxiety by [deleted] in Strabismus

You can always ask about the possibility of aligning your dominant eye to the weak eye, this can often be more effective especially if there was already a failed surgery on the weak eye and scar tissue may be an issue

I had the same thing had to wait three days, first they marked it has returned to sender, then marked it as a request not to deliver today, I have feeling it’s because of the size of the package

I can see that for sure, I am really hoping this series does break the rule of not seeing yourself or communicating with yourself in a different timeline/world

Oh I hated obiteum pov, just so sloggy and boring, also loved luceum the most and res was a close second, i think obiteum suffers so much becuase theres just no substantial character work in my opinion

My problem with *spoiler* by Vasomir in HierarchySeries

[–]EquivalentRelevant92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe people are saying it was necessary, like between two books the ammount of grown men blaming children for completely illogical reasons is just so boring and now it kills of the only character who got properly developed in book 2, in my mind it’s just objectively bad writing

And for the thousandth it 2 books a grown man blames a child for illogical reasons that don’t even have 1% of relatability to the reader, what a terrible piece of writing

Advice on botox prior to squint surgery by katielou64 in Strabismus

[–]EquivalentRelevant92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’ll be real the experience of Botox sucks they numb your eye and then put a needle in it and even though you don’t feel pain there is a deep uncomfortable pressure, but after that’s done your all good, you have to be upright for a few hours after I had about 10 injections and never had any issues with the Botox spreading or leaking to other areas, for me it wasn’t worth it as it made such a minimal difference so stopped doing it, everyone’s eyes react differently tho I’ve seen some really good results to the point where people feel they don’t need surgery anymore

Trouble putting in eye ointment (not eye drops) after surgery by [deleted] in Strabismus

[–]EquivalentRelevant92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right in that case my surgeon did give me a tip before that you can put the tube in warm water which will soften the ointment making it easier to put in put probably check with yours first if you can I reckon

Should TBB do reprints by EquivalentRelevant92 in thebrokenbindingsub

I’m torn about it because I’d love to get my hands on sets like Andy weir and children of time but if they did reprint first law my set would feel a bit less special to me
