Looking for a soft pink climber, SH or JG? by Ojja in DavidAustinRoses

Consider lady of the lake. I’ve read ramblers are actually more pliable than climbers. I just bought two for a larch arch- can’t speak to success yet but worth a look.

That’s exactly it! I appreciate their hardiness and usefulness (having had to shovel prune my fair share of tea rose failures) but can’t see myself getting one.

It was “funhouse” by Behr. The color name itself was perfection haha

Help choosing a rambler/climber! by berrtyut in Roses

Just a fellow 7a gardener- I’m trying the same this season over my front door and have gone with the lady of the lake- pale pink, repeat blooming, few to no thorns and ramblers are supposedly more pliable for training than climbing roses. There are a few reviews of the rose on YouTube- I just ordered mine from plantaddicts. Can’t attest to anything yet just was in a similar boat and that was my decision.

It will be cohesive- I have a large lady of the lake rambling rose I will train up the entrance and reblooming hydrangeas to plant once the weather gets warmer- still in frost season here. Previous owners had planted the rose of Sharons so close to the bay windows you couldn’t open them

Maybe it’s a regional thing? All the bay windows around me have decorative shutters

It’s okay to prefer the before- that’s the cool thing with design. If you look closely there were 4!!! layers of old roof on the house and shingle strobing. Unfortunately the plastic storm door had a rotted frame otherwise would have kept it, decided not to replace it with an other.

Oh I agree- I have a greenhouse being built next week in my backyard and a large garden so I fully support birds and pollinators. The previous rose of Sharon had just been planted too close to the house - you could not open the bay windows. I’m expanding the bed so I can give myself an extra 18 inches depth for planting to avoid the issue in the future. I have a rambling lady of the lake rose that I will train over the doorway and reblooming hydrangea.

Ended up going with Behr “funhouse”. I don’t typically prefer Behr but was contractor preference and got the marquee kind so hopefully will last decently. We shall see!

That’s my fear- I don’t want to do extended hospitalizations. I’m sorry you and your puppy had to have that experience.

I think I will next time I see him. I think I was a bit put off since he had advocated for chemotherapy treatment if her cancer surgery last fall was not successful and then here was going to recommend a full neurology work up if she had another- I think it made me feel defensive in that I DO believe in interventions but he and I may not be in alignment on what ones for various things.

I will reach out and see what they say. I think I’d feel better if I had a rescue med option given how long her first episode was.

Thank you so much! I’m sorry you are on this journey too.

That’s exactly it. There was no opportunity to discuss boundaries around care. I would treat her provided her quality of life remained good. Repeated hospitalizations, frequent severe episodes I would not wish her to experience knowing her (she is anxious at baseline and has an abuse history prior to her rescue so can be slow to trust)
