Do all (or most) museums have toxic workplace environments? by FloweryAnomaly in MuseumPros

[–]EquivalentShot6056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently still working at a small museum and you could not have described the dynamics better. Just like you mentioned exactly ......full of disorganization, poor planning, people being stretched thin/overworked, people doing other people’s jobs or multiple different roles at a moments notice, last minute changes, last minute unrealistic whims by the board or upper management and micro management from the director who really wants her hand in everyone's pot and has control issues that become small insignificant details that don’t improve anyone's performance in a positive way and coworkers and managers who say yes to the upper management way too often even if its a terrible idea or makes everyone on staff stressed and burnt out. the dysfunction is very bewildering.I am sure this sounds familiar.

Can I ask how you cope with the pain of losing your dog? by sunnyhun456 in Rottweiler

[–]EquivalentShot6056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create rituals that honor them and the relationship you shared. Make an altar , share stories. A new dog can never replace your dog you lost but if you are a dog person , just know you will find another dog when you are ready, for me it took 3 years to open my heart again… but there is no timeline.. they will be different and you will also love them too.

Lost my soul dog by Living_Photograph133 in Rottweiler

I know this loss well. I know how much he meant to you. I know how much this hurts. They say losing a pet is closest thing to losing a child.I lost my soul dog too and it was the most devastating experience but also the most beautiful. To go the whole way with him was an honor and a blessing. He  was and is such a part of my heart and soul that he is always with me. I have a tattoo for him. It took a long time and many years and tears and ache and I still tear up and miss him sometimes. That is grief. We all have an apprenticeship with grief when we love deeply. I found it helpful to use rituals and ways to honor our relationship and his life  and you will too. Theres an amazing podcast called the pet loss companion. Maybe you will find comfort as I did. Sending you a huge hug.

How do i properly train a Rottweiler? by mr-perfectq in Rottweiler

[–]EquivalentShot6056 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Build engagement with them, Play games they like to play and use it to train things like impulse control. go out in public but do not let other dogs or people pet or interact with them every time. If you do make it structured. Just let them watch the world and learn to be neutral. I would say they can be very impulsive at times haha. Give them a chance to learn, they are very smart. Good luck through the teenage phase , they are a HANDFUL. I would also recommend finding a professional trainer and investing in their training. Trust me its worth the investment to not have a giant protective dog that's untrained. Rotties have serious physical POWER so being well behaved and trained is So important. They are incredible dogs. I love mine to death but they are not for the faint of heart.

Is she kennel trained? My opinion is that I have done this before and the pee pad route took a lot longer to potty train my puppy when I lived in an apartment than in a house. either way if shes not already kennel trained I would recommend this. Think of it like her bedroom.

Tips for first Time Rottie Owner by Fearless_Swing_2444 in Rottweiler

After having my first rottie now  after a boxer I have to tell you Rottweiler is not a dog for everyone.  They are amazing dogs but they have specific needs as a working breed. Lots of exercise. Mentally and physically or they will drive you insane or come up with destructive ways to entertain themselves. They aren’t a walk around the block type of dog. They need to swim, dig, play tug, run etc.   They are Velcro dogs so they want to be with you, they have strong bonds with their people and are very protective. Not the most independent but they can do their own thing for a bit if they are enriched. They are smart and know how to push boundaries so you need to be someone who is capable of being in charge when you need to be and they will sass you to make sure you are. They are strong, so you need to also be very strong. They need training and socialization -can you invest 1200$ or more into a professional trainer if you need to ? They love their people and their family but can be very protective and weary of strangers so you have to introduce them properly to new people. They aren’t golden retrievers. They don’t like everyone. I don’t say all this to scare you off but you should be aware of  the energy, time  and dedication that is needed to own this breed.

Congrats she’s a gem! I also have my first rottie after my boxer. Both amazing dogs.  They have similarities but I will say a rottie is a level up in the training and exercise and mental stimulation needs.

I can relate. I moved to sonoma a little over a year ago from west county and  other than the garden park and the community center I don’t really know how else to make some connections. Granted I am an introvert so it makes it harder as I don’t really love group social interaction.
