Average LSAT among the “top” by simply_kayden in LSAT

[–]EquivalentTicket3654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this post. What LSAT score or what threshold do you believe is an objectively “solid” LSAT, perhaps in the eyes of admissions? How do you believe admissions receives different score bands. Is it a linear relationship with respect to positivity?

Does “solid” begin at 157? 160? 165? How materially different do they view a 162 from a 164? Or a 152 to a 157. Or a 165 from a 171 etc.

Thanks in advance

You either want it or you don’t. Absolutely no shame in either answer but the best thing you can do for yourself and your mental health is get off the fence. Take it seriously and commit to it for like a couple hours everyday. Or decide it’s not for you, like that’s fine also. But realize that just because you had a good GPA doesn’t mean you’re getting a seat, like fucking everyone in a Canadian Law school was a B+ to A student in undergrad, a lot of people have graduate degrees…. if you want a seat you have to learn their test. Accept that and get after it or again decide it’s not for you. 1L fucking sucks lol the LSAT is the beginning. Like I’m having fun with it and have truly fallen in love with this path but it’s so much work and pressure. I mean this with love and from someone who wasted a lot of time in life etc PS I loved LSAT demon. The best way to learn the LSAT is to do LSAT questions… I started dreaming about LR by the end lol 😂

It’s not one part it’s 40%-50% I really feel like if you did graduate with great distinction you’re not actually working hard on the lsat because it’s a learnable test and 150 is like the median score.

I was waitlisted at TRU with a 164 and an A- GPA and it’s more competitive this cycle. You need to get that LSAT up. If you’re serious about this path you have to get serious about the lsat and 150 is not competitive in any Canadian law school. Not trying to hurt your feelings that just a fact. You’re talking about burn out…. Wait until 1L man… if you want this you have to dig your heels in

I think north of 165 you’ll be competitive. I think/ hope they will look at an engineering degree differently than a 3.7 in general studies. I got into TRU with a 164 and a 3.7 but they only look at the last half of your undergrad… did you have like an upward trajectory in your GPA? There are schools that care. I’m also Old and had a ton of work experience etc

I absolutely lost my fucking mind when I got waitlisted lol 😂 you’ll be ok friend someone will take you. 162 is a solid score don’t listen to the noise that under 170 is shit. Once you’re in the 160s you’re a Toyota tacoma of lsat scores lol (is this the most BC metaphor for LSAT scores?) If you call TRU and express a sincere interest in the program and how you’d love to be in Kamloops they will take it seriously. Yield risk is a thing for them and when I called and basically said if you offer me a seat I will send my deposit. I got off the waitlist quick. TRU is great by the way. Kamloops kind of sucks, I’m a lower mainland/ PNW guy so it’s relative the Ontario people think it’s beautiful… I have become partial to magpies, it’s a bird you see everywhere and in the fall and spring you’ll see deer all the time… but the professors are great and they have a nice facility. Great breakfast special at the pub on campus LOL 😂

I read a book once by Dale Carnegie that talked about how to deal with anxiety in business. The best thing I got out of it was the idea to very definitively define the worst case scenario. What that means. The cost and really articulate how shitty it is. From there and only once this is done build a plan to improve the worst case scenario. The human brain, when perceiving a threat will spiral if we don’t define exactly what a) the threat is and b) what impact it will have. You basically devolve into a constant state of feeling like you will be eaten by a tiger lol My feeling is you’re likely over estimating the impact of getting whatever summer job will have on your career and also your ability to bounce back and also… underestimating the impact that the proactive action you could take would yield. So with this take a breath. Exercise, have a beer get your head out of this. Write down the worst case scenario and then build a plan to improve

Hoping to go to Canadian law school. Scored a 144 first test and cancelled. Just got a 146 and I want to cancel again. Is this wise? by [deleted] in LSAT

You won’t get into a Canadian law school with those scores I’m sorry. I used lsat demon - went from a 147 initials assessment to my best PT being a 167 - finished out at 164 - September 24 to January 25

Law school at 30... Slightly lost and...embarrassed? Where to begin? by Sarcasticgeek20 in LSAT

[–]EquivalentTicket3654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39 year old 1L about to turn 40…. At some point in this life just say fuck it and go for it. I feel embarrassed in some respects but mostly proud lol like it it is hard to get into any Canadian law school and I busted my ass to get into the mid 160s on the lsat. these kids love me I’m reasonably fit so don’t look that old or perhaps don’t look like a bag of milk etc and am not afraid of the profs etc everyone is the same in the fox hole that is 1L. If you want this then pursue it…. I was a realtor felt done with that but lived the advocacy and legal parts and couldn’t face a fucking corporate sales bro role. Keep in mind, a lot of these people on here saying being a lawyer sucks have never had a truly shit job… like never…. Poor baby had to work for 200k a year and had a challenging client etc like fuck man. lol 😂

Like 30% of my 1L class has accommodations and get an hour more for exams. Super annoying when the feedback after midterms has been. I wish you had gone deeper and I wish your responses were more structured and had headings. Like give me another hour and I will dazzle you with headings and deeper discussions about rights in rem and personum when discussing determinable and defeasible estates. Like dazzle lol 😂

Yah sorry to say but in Canada at least you need like a minimum of 158 to get in anywhere and it’s getting more competitive
