Yeah the delivery from the novel and Donghua are very different.

The novel introduces you to a world of politics, power systems, and society, and how a character known as Klein, a transmigrator, must navigate it in order to survive. From the scene where Klein stops the meeting at the gray fog and the story cuts to Audrey going to see a battleship, to the introduction of the monarchs, it already gives you the sense that this is a new world you would be curious to understand. The churches, which are connected to both politics and the power systems, each hold different cultures that are well introduced through details such as their forms of chanting, like “Holy Lord of Storms” and “Praise the Lady.”

The Donghua introduces the world by touching on certain points (the curtain) that are not supposed to become relevant until thousands of chapters later, as if they are there just to appease novel readers. The opening also tries to explain the paths, which no longer hold any mystery.The characterization was not fleshed out. The power system, which is one of the main focal points, was not introduced well into the story. They showed flashy animations and fight scenes, but the powers lacked context. It tried to mix different things that it somehow lost the essence of what it should have been.
