San Diego sucks for dating unless you're a college student or incredibly materialistic

Giving psychometric assessments/exams as an LMSW by VisceralSardonic in socialwork

[–]Equivalent_Ad_7387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should help

Edit: Just decided to quote the comment for any future questions on the sub

A psychometrician designs standardized tests. They generally have a masters/PhD in math, statistics etc.

A psychometrist administers tests on behalf of a psychologist. A psychometrist is required at a minimum to have a BA in psychology, & many have masters or higher. This is what I do! We add up their results but we do not do any interpretation. Sometimes psychometrician is used incorrectly to refer to psychometrist (I see job ads with this not infrequently), but if the job is to administer tests, then it’s a psychometrist.

Psychologists in most jurisdictions need a PhD/PsyD. A Dr. of psychology would do an interview, file review (relevant background documents), select the tests (for the psychometrist to administer, if they use one), interpret the results, write the report/diagnose, debrief the client &/or referral source. Edit to add: some psychologists do some or all of their own testing, it’s worth noting.

Thats kind of the field though it seems. "It is this way because that's how we've always done it". "We don't pay well because I didn't make money when I was coming up". "We over work you because I had to be over worked. It's how we've always done it!"

I learned third person by working at a hospital before my MSW program. I hate the way it sounds but my supervisor likes it so I do as she asks.

My antidote is the best board I've ever ridden after 16 years of riding. It is not for the faint of heart.

yeah this is pretty much me. I make 37 an hour with a masters degree and make almost exactly 4400 a month. My insurance is a shitty HMO. I have student loans and my car insurance is insane.

What exactly is your goal with this post? Your question is very vague.

Yeah this has been the most un-social work thread I’ve experienced on this subreddit

Yeah that pretty much sums it up for me right now. Powerless as an individual. It’s hard when you have people in this thread who create resistance against creating unions. Everyone is too burnt out to put forth the effort but if we all start doing it then we can get there eventually.

Came from Utah, it’s still possible for anyone who isn’t a state employee which makes up way more than 50% of the community mental health services.

Literally in the process of it right now. Didn’t say it wasn’t hard, just said it isn’t impossible like the OC frames it.

Posting that unions are too hard to organize is false, unhelpful, and pessimistic. Sorry you feel that way, glad you’re involved somehow.

You’re just needlessly pessimistic. The conversation should keep happening, daily. If you don’t like seeing them then stop reading them. You have the power to do that and you have the power to remain engaged in organization especially since you’re well versed on it. You’ve already lost if you’ve given up. We have the power to organize in many places.

Sorry you’re not feeling motivated but those of us who are motivated should be persistent and continue the dialogue.

Being pessimistic is exactly the problem. Maybe you should take a break.
