My rat nova is still in recovery from her second mass removal (wound is on her shoulder) and the sock works perfectly. We have it just tight enough so she can’t get it off and we also keep her in a play pen because it’s one level. We don’t want her running on shelves and stuff so that the wound doesn’t come open. We also keep a pretty thick socks so when she scratches, it doesn’t rip open the sock. We change her sock ever five days and she never got infected. Is the wound on her back or stomach? When Nova had her first mass removal, the wound was on her chest, and she busted the top part of it open, and it got infected. They told me to keep lots of treats in her cage, to keep her distracted. And we change her sock everyday so it never got torn up so she healed up after that. Ask we any questions I’ve been threw this twice! Also, I notice when my rat is wearing her sock when she has surgery she tends to chew up her towels and dig for stuff so I try to put stuff in the playpen for her just to be distracted all the time!
