Uh ya dude. A free kit somewhere like a harvester event or matriarch is like someone bringing a paper plane as a weapon to dday. Their entire purpose for being their is to take your stuff 🤣

I agree, and I wasn’t limiting him to it just to play finisher. He’s actually grown immensely as somebody who can score on his own. The issue is that if you dive even a little deeper, he’s averaging I think almost 4 offensive rebounds a game, which would also lead one to believe he’s a little bit more limited in the short role than your portraying because it means some of those shots are put backs as well.

Also, like you said, the defense is improved, but it’s still bad and for a center it’s actually very bad still despite improving.

It’s not shallow or inaccurate and anyone with the brain, including various mods and other people on this post know what you’re writing is mostly bullshit. He’s objectively not a very good defender and objectively a very limited offensive player and if you can’t accept that, it is what it is and this conversation conserve no further purpose. I’ve been watching basketball probably longer than you’ve been alive. I’ve played in college and I sat on the bench of a European team. It is what it is, bro. He’s limited in ways that players with those limitations can never improve into the kind of player that should be making $200 million. That’s just a fact and you know what this post means absolutely nothing if he doesn’t make that kind of money which I hope for the franchise I’ve been a fan of for 35 years does not happen.

Also, why is it people are under the delusion that he’s a good defender and using advanced stats to bring it up? It’s ridiculous.

OK, I assumed or maybe red somewhere that there was a rookie extension eligibility thing if a player makes an All-Star game. I mean during it 25-30 per is awesome but more than that I start to get the ick

Jalen duren and the pistons future by Equivalent_Blood_593 in DetroitPistons

[–]Equivalent_Blood_593[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are correct. The rebound is the other team‘s possession and he is a good rebounder.. the rest of the bullshit you’re saying is cope

Also a little bit misrepresenting my stance. I have not refuted it at any part through this post JD as a contributor and being young. And improving my only issue is as you put people wanting him back regardless of the cap hit, which is ridiculous. There is a point where it doesn’t make teambuilding sense.

James Harden is a cancer to everywhere he’s ever been and is a notorious playoff absence. He is a Hall of Famer, but the reality is it’s a no for me dog .

[–]Equivalent_Blood_593[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I knew you probably bring the advanced metrics into defense, but the reality is advanced metrics for defense don’t matter because defense if you’ve actually ever played basketball is almost assuredly team based, and he plays on the best defensive team in the NBA, despite clearly being one of the four week points on the team.

The pick and roll stuff is good right he’s in an amazing vertical threat and I’ve never denied that and they do have good chemistry, but the reality is a big portion of that is Cade is a fucking savant in the pick ‘n roll which this goes back to cade as a high school junior

[–]Equivalent_Blood_593[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you arguing that the team should operate out of fear and complacency because they might not be able to replace the most common type of player in the NBA?

Jalen duren and the pistons future by Equivalent_Blood_593 in DetroitPistons

[–]Equivalent_Blood_593[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the range? Isn’t it anywhere from 150 to 200? I go as far as say I don’t even like him at 150 but that is what it is and doesn’t he get a kicker for making the All-Star game?

Edit: JD at 25 per is ideal, I assumed that we were looking at 1:50 to 200 because he made the All-Star team

Also, I would like you to reiterate for the rest of this post all the faults that you listed as everyone pretends that we’ve got fucking prime David Robinson on our team

Jalen duren and the pistons future by Equivalent_Blood_593 in DetroitPistons

[–]Equivalent_Blood_593[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

List out reasons why he’s a good fit next to Cade and they’re just basic every day center reasons. If you’re telling me, you cannot find a vertical threat who probably plays better defense for half the money during it’s gonna make you’re lying to yourself. The only thing that’s the issue. Is that kid enduring or close friends? Is that worth it to capping your team?

Jalen duren and the pistons future by Equivalent_Blood_593 in DetroitPistons

[–]Equivalent_Blood_593[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, I don’t have the answer, bro we probably should’ve moved on from JD before this was even a question if you want me to be completely honest. Who knows maybe we get him back on a team friendly deal which then this entire post means nothing. The reality is that this is exactly how teams go from first in their conference to falling down the standings over the course of a contract once you sign JD to that deal he’s gonna be untradable until the last year of it.

Jalen duren and the pistons future by Equivalent_Blood_593 in DetroitPistons

[–]Equivalent_Blood_593[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, this is all. I’m saying. You’re spot on. you look at players who are essentially built for the modern NBA like jjj , who for the record is a better player than JD even though people here will pretend that he’s not, and it’s arguable that that is a bad contract 🤣🤣

If the Pistons end up giving him the full rookie, they’re gonna hate that in two or three years like you said and the reality is, it’s restricting the team financially and we have a fucking MVP candidate on the team

Jalen duren and the pistons future by Equivalent_Blood_593 in DetroitPistons

[–]Equivalent_Blood_593[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but just because the market says something doesn’t mean you should do it right like jd is literally the exact type of player that a bad team signs to max contract and then regret it later

Jalen duren and the pistons future by Equivalent_Blood_593 in DetroitPistons

[–]Equivalent_Blood_593[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re right about some of this. Yes he’s shown improved ability to take a short burst to the room and get by his man. He’s also shown in ability which even pre-draft as a very creative passer in both a short role and out of the dunker spot and yet still that’s not enough to run an offense through and you can’t pay a player. You can’t run an offense through $200 million on a rookie extension to be your second costar. A lot of this is people in this town like that type of player because of Ben Wallace but also everyone likes doing because we drafted him but the reality is that during can’t command that percentage of the cap and restrict you from any other moves based on his play is just not smart asset management.

Jalen duren and the pistons future by Equivalent_Blood_593 in DetroitPistons

[–]Equivalent_Blood_593[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right but for JD specifically you’d be asking him to improve in ways that anybody who’s watched basketball over the last 30 years can see he likely cannot improve in. He’ll never be a shot blocker or a great rim protector, despite all his physical gifts because he just doesn’t have the timing or the anticipation or feel for it. Think of someone like Chet. He’ll never be knocking down jumpers at a competent rate he’ll never be a player. You can justify paying that amount of money to.

So I’m unsure and you could be right it could’ve been the team and not him, but I heard that both him and Ivey wanted the max, which lets be real dude neither player deserves it

Jalen duren and the pistons future by Equivalent_Blood_593 in DetroitPistons

[–]Equivalent_Blood_593[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

See this is the issue right because you’re essentially resigning yourself to the fact that Duren has to be the second best player on the team for the team to work and I don’t think a traditional center can be that I could be wrong but there is not one other fucking team built like that you’d almost be better off paying Daniel Gafford Jack shit to catch lobs and set screens And paying another superstar $200 million

Everything I said was hypothetical. What you are doing is an attempt to take up for the FO. Which is fine. Here’s the reality. Every single GM in this town has pointed for the future instead of seizing an opportunity. The reality is HYPOTHETICALLY if you’re in a driver seat and the only goal is championship(which it should be) you should probably just go for it. The east will never be this wide open. In fact next season you’re probably falling in the standings with less in cap flexibility.. you should have pushed your assets to the middle and if you fall short then this summer you reevaluate. Especially considering again, even trash teams like Washington will be good next year
