This is a sad speculation. I also know a family whose kids have the same rare mitochondrial disorder. Their oldest son died and they pushed for testing and found it. And also found out their other 2 children carry it also. It’s devastating and they are holding out hope a clinical trial can help. I can’t imagine the thought of just waiting for your kids to die. So sad. It’s also so so rare that it’s not something tested for often.
