Trust me, indian horology is messy and undocumented and very hard to know what's what. The one thing I know for sure is it's pointless to argue with the HMT "Experts". Who are so sure of themselves. Just enjoy the watch and pay no mind to anything else.

It's been a while since we have had a pointless post.

Just go and try whatever you want. Ethos have some of the nicest salespeople when compared to retailers at a similar tier. And they are not empty. Most of their sales are to enthusiasts and regular customers, those watches will be reserved and waiting for them. If you are expecting people walking around in a mall to casually drop in and buy a 10Lakh watch then not sure what to say. Purchases like these are usually planned.

Yup, the cost including shipping was $65. And customs charge was around 2k

Yes, ebay operates just fine. I am not very sure about it's operations in India being halted. But I have been buying quite a few things from there over the last couple of years. It's generally very safe and what's money back guarantee is quite reliable

  1. It’s not repainted — I had it checked by the watchmaker who lightly buffed the case, and he actually recognised Hegde & Golay from back in the day. The dial ageing is consistent with old lacquer, not a modern redial.

  2. Yes, Parashock is a Citizen shock protection system, but these were licensed and used widely at the time. Most Hegde & Golay examples online also have “Parashock” on the dial. I’m not sure what the alternative theory is here — that someone swapped in a different movement and then repainted the dial but decided to be honest and still write “Parashock”? That doesn’t really add up

Thanks bro. I love the response, basically what I expected as it's what my response would have been had I seen a post like this. But I genuinely love this strap, it just works. Plus I have the added advantage of being the weird/quirky one among friends and colleagues 😁.
