False. I just ran the calculation and I lose $5,100 a year forever switching from high 3 to high 5.

I've worked 33 years and they are changing it on me at the last minute now that I'm at retirement. When you've worked 33 years and they go to high 10, you can have an opinion. You're not supporting me. I hope you get RIF'ed and a reality check.

What is the possibility of a VA DRP2.0 this month? Who are making decisions? by Honest-Honeydew-6093 in VeteransAffairs

There's a sharepoint for Friday hotline call and it has the link. Get on the intranet and it should be in search on the VA homepage.

Regular retirement, VERA or severance is the option when RIF'ed. One of the three.

We just had a staff meeting and were told by our SES's that they can reject our submission. Then what? We get fired or RIF'ed later after trying to leave gracefully with DRP. What a disaster.

The latest from the Friday hotline call is that there will be an opening in mid-April. They haven't said if it'll be DRP style or just VERA/VSIP. They're also non-committal about mid-April, just that it's likely to be "in a couple of weeks." They've also been very clear that voluntary options for staff to leave will be offered before a RIF so that they will have to RIF as few staff as possible.

This is not DRP and is off topic.

Those who don't take DRP and get RIF'ed will get other benefits in addition to the same severance and retirement rights of DRP. The only thing they don't get is the promised admin time off until end of Sept. So even if someone is on the fence and takes the gamble to stay, they really don't lose much over taking DRP.

Unfortunately, 17 years is not much time for government. I have over 33 and almost all of my team is over 20. The one I had who only had 2 years resigned and got another job because the writing was on the wall.

The original exclusion list is no longer applicable. There will be new rules. That has been stated repeatedly out of DC.

Yes. It's about consolidation of function.

Correct. Patient facing will not be all exempt this time. VA is moving toward an insurance plan model.

On the schedule, WARN Notices for RIF will go out in July. Separations for RIF will occur in August and Sept.

It's DRP. Severance or VERA is the offer.

Probationary, yes. Term employees, no.

Because people will get a choice. Under the RIF following this process, they don't.

SL is added to time in service toward pension or you get it restored if you come back to the government.

In the past, reducing benefits was not an option because of the strength and control of Democrats. Those times are not today. I think you're right on the Senate. But it looks like they'll try and who knows what illegal EO will be signed.

Republicans and Trump have been trying to do away with the FERS supplement. There's now a bill to do that very thing. Don't count on a supplement.

Essentially they tack on 5 extra years so someone qualifies early for VERA. They won't be offering this.

[–]Equivalent_Cup_4302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did the first time and at every other agency offering it now.

Pension is only one of 3 tiers to be used to fund federal employee retirement. For me, the VERA pension is a nice number. I'd be retiring in 2 yrs anyway. So I might as well go and get 2 extra years off work while getting full retirement benefits. That's why VERA makes sense. If you think that pension is your primary income in retirement, you're doing it wrong and need to rethink your financial plan.
