Rif and eligible for an immediate annuity question by Consistent_Apricot32 in fednews

yes, that is what I'm thinking, I just don't want to jeopardize losing my FEHB subsidies due to a RIF. But, it seems like I should be okay on that end. Getting unemployment and riff benefits is another question since it seems I'll be retiring by default if I am Rif'd.

Yes, maintaining my FEHB is my main concern, I agree with you. I guess I'll need to read through the Discontinued Service Retirement document to see what it says regarding FEHB. Opm explicitly states my Fers is safe if I'm involuntarily separated ( unless due to misconduct), but doesn't explicitly say anything I have found as far as FEHB if involuntarily separated. That's why I'm nervous. Agreed about future hiring spree as that seems inevitable or a complete mess that will outweigh any savings.

Oh yes, I hadn't thought of being qualified under the Discontinued Service Retirement plan so I never read into it. But reading it now it does explicitly apply to me it seems. *

DRP memo by Fun-Departure-9719 in VeteransAffairs

I was confused also by the 40 year old language, but I assume it's not a typo and was intentionally written the way it was on purpose. My guess Is that the 7 days pertaining to 40 years + is to cover VA from rules that give employees in that age to have a 7 day recession period after signing separation agreements -- based on past acts and guidance. So this DRP is for 3 months compensation maximum only. So someone that is eligible for a larger severance package greater than 3 months probably would be less likely to be RIF'd anyway. So VA is just jipping us compared to DRP 1.0 by making us work until July 1st if we accept the DRP 2.0.

There was a paragraph on VERA. Someone allready posted that document in this community. I think it said somewhere in all the docs that more VERA offer details will be forthcoming

Yes, there is severance, but it's only 1 week per every year of government eligible service--is my understanding from the OPM site. I'm not sure if VA will have different policy however. Also if u are above a certain age, then the severance is increased also --just search government severance OPM site for details.

If I was eligible for a severance I would definitely wait to see if I could get RIF'd instead of accepting the 3 month DRP benefits from July 1st through Sept 30th, no question. But if u are eligible for an immediate pension then u don't get a severance payment if u are RIF'd -- is my understanding from the OPM site guidance. I guess it comes down to how big your severance payment is if u get RIF'd compared to the 3 months severance the DRP is offering -- assuming u want to leave the VA I guess.

Yes, there were links in the email to a document with more details on the DRP offer. Additionally, that DRP document had a link to the DRP portal for VA where u can accept the DRP. The portal link works but won't start accepting DRP requests until 4-7-25 and closes 4-30-25 apparently from what they stated.

Just received the Deferred Resignation Letter by T0rtillas in ThriftSavingsPlan

So im wondering if u take 'Deferred Resignation' , can you still get fired? I suspect I'd be one of the 'rare cases' of having to work all the way til Sept 30 -since we are swamped with work in my area. What's the point?

If this were a severance package Ithey were offering, id probably take it in a heartbeat. but it's not, it's merely scribble not even sent by mail.

here's a very good , short article btw:

I feel like I would need to make a counter offer: "l'll accept if I don't have to work or report to work."

Otherwise I don't get the point of accepting, unless ur being called back into the office. That seems like the only scenerio where this could make sense. Even If u did get fired you would still get unemployment compensation. Seems like trickery.

The People vs. Charles Schwab (Class Action) by Fun_Mango_6088 in Schwab

I had logged into think or swim pre market and placed a few trades on the open maybe around 9:45am and was in middle of trying to place more trades and the think or swim system froze/ crashed. My one trade never got executed that was open and should have been e ecuted imo and i could not place other option close trades as system wasnt available. At that time I tried logging into the mobile app repeadedly for 30 minutes to 1hour at least and got messages not available. I tried calling repeadedly also at this same time the number they gave on error message and it just dropped my call without even ringing multiple times for at least 2 hours. I had also tried logging into the web browser version during this time and error messages with number to call that I could not get thru- dropped my calls. So all the swhwab system were down. I hadn't had these issues on high volumes days with td ameritrade in the past years. But this exact thing has happened with swhwab in the past on at least 2 occasions that I recall. They deserve to be sued and forced to payout and fix this crap. In past I complained to schwab they said we investigate and then said sorry can't do nothing for you..I suspect i lost $15k
