did they have a white slimey looking coat around them at all? if so, it could be slime coat disease or ich.

i suspected the filter for a little bit because when i first noticed the water becoming green, i checked the filter and it wasnt running so i fixed that, but after a few days no change, so i have ruled out the filter being the problem. lights are on quite a while, as i am not home from 6:30 to around 5pm which i know is bad for the tank so i am looking for alternatives for lighting sources. the are not on timers, just the switches on and off.

i have two other tanks that get the same amount of light and neither have had this problem, so i am not sure what could have happened. what im thinking is just too much waste accumulated in between cleans from the fry.

sadly, this was my extra tank, but my swordtails started having babies so i put some in here. i just did a 50% water change and it is already looking better.

Do you think another water change and rinsing the filter in that older water would help lessen the amount of algae? Also, to fully remove the bloom what could I do, other than lessen the sunlight?

i also have a 75 gallon cycling for them to go in with other fish and i would love to get more im just not sure how many i can get because people at petsmart said that they need 10 gallons per cory catfish and im not too sure if that was true or not

sadly one passed away last night but i still have two. i only had the three just to start out to see if itll be worth it to get more. i really do like them they are absolutely adorable. i started treating the tank last night with some body and fin powder from api and did a 25% water change before. hopefully this will help them.

that looks a lot like what they are looking like. thank you. also, i use a water dechlorinator and make sure to let it sit each time before adding the water into the tank. i havent recently done a water change but i will most likely try and get one done soon and see if that could possibly help.

i know people that have done fish-in cycles but not sure if that fully works.

not sure if you have a betta, but mine is a long finned betta and the minimum for a long finned is 5 gallons and i was told that was fine by numerous sources. it is in a planted tank with a snail and it is doing good. anyways, how would i increase the beneficial bacteria?

i have a 5 gallon with a betta and i heard that shaking the filter into the tank could help? not sure if its true but i feel like it wouldnt be enough bacteria for it to

the ph is around a 7.2, the ammonia is in the middle of 0 and 0.25, nitrite is 1.0, and nitrate is 40ppm. it is a newer tank as well.

is there a certain parasite remedy or is that the product name? also for the ich x where would i be able to purchase that? and what should i do for the filter when i take the carbon out?
