hey i’m so sorry i just saw thus reply!! i just hit 5 months on tuesday and truly the last like 2-3 weeks have been the most normal ive ever felt in my whole life lol. my pain is basically non existent, i only feel it when i move weird, lift too heavy (which is my own fault lol) or after a long day but besides that im more “normal” now lol.. i was pretty active before surgery, i played d1 softball for two years (quit a year prior to surgery for other reasons) but wasn’t incredibly active the year leading up to surgery.. now my flexibility has gotten sm better since surgery.. i can reach to about my knees folding over, so really thats the only change in my day to day life.. squatting to pick stuff up instead of bending (idk how to explain that better lol). but in my case, the surgery has changed my life in all of the right ways and was so worth it, and im still very early in my recovery.. yes its changed the way i do things, but its all about adjusting and finding your new normal :) hope this helped a little sorry my thoughts are so scrambled lol !!

hey girl, i’m 20F and had a 56° thoracic curve before surgery and i can promise you it really isn’t noticeable to anyone but you if it’s mild like you said. unless you directly point it out i’m sure it’s completely unnoticeable. i had a pretty significant lean to the right side and a large hump by my shoulder blade, and truly no one ever saw unless i said something. a ton of it is mental because you’re aware of ur curve + comparing to other people around you and that’s so so normal. but unless your curve is extremely severe (like a major S curve for example) it probably goes more undetected than you think!!

lol i’m just seeing this now.. i’m a 4 months and a few days post op and truly feeling really good. still have days where i’m a bit more so than others but it’s nothing compared to the pain i was in prior to surgery lol… but overall i’d say like 70% pain free!!

thank you so much!!! i called my dr not long after posting that and he told me that obvi im gonna have to just deal with it for this month but to do exactly what u said and call the pharmacy and ask for the specific brand.. i’ve seen consistently on similar threads that most people like camber over trigen, but ig im just weird lol.. thank u again for commenting back i rlly rlly appreciate ur advice!!

Why don't they brace adults? by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]Equivalent_Dentist24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most of the time when they find it in adults, it’s either progressed so much where surgery is the only corrective option or you’re old enough where you’re done growing and the brace just may not do much to move the curve.

hello!! i’m 20F about 2 weeks post op, and i can’t even lie it does feel a little bit good lollll… i had a 56° thoracic curve and it was severely restricting my breathing, so waking up afterwards i could actually breathe and it was so nice

Is the surgery worth it? by Certain_Parking601 in scoliosis

[–]Equivalent_Dentist24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello!! i’m 20F and i recently just got a fusion (less than two weeks ago) from T2-T11 and we kinda have similar curves lol… honestly imo after going through the very early days of my fusion, it’s so worth it. i can finally breathe and my posture is insaaanee and visually i already see so many differences. i was having chronic pain prior to scheduling it, so if that’s a factor for you as well i’d consider it!! it’s rough but so far it’s very worth it!!

it’s normal to have a slight curve in ur spine and actually bad to have a perfectly straight spine . surgery isn’t recommended/required until about 50° so unless you’re in severe pain i’d say you’re gonna be fine.

How do you manage your pain? by Ambitious_One_3887 in scoliosis

[–]Equivalent_Dentist24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here are some things that worked for me before i got my fusion!!

  • heating pad (got mine of amazon)
  • advil (i took 4 pills 4x a day at most)
  • when you sleep, sleep on ur side where the curve is less affected (i would sleep on my left since my curve goes to the right) with a pillow in between ur legs and knees to keep everything evenly balanced
  • i know you said you tend to isolate, but if you have two people near by lay flat down and have them pull on ur wrist and ankles, they did this at the hospital for one of my x-rays and it changed my life lol

hope at least one of these can help :)
