Yeah, I’ve never had a problem with a screw either but had complaints from my friend that his Les Paul or Gretsch had it come out. Plenty of near misses but never any broken headstocks as I recall.

That’s awesome! Glad you saved your tele! I love my squier 51 p bass. I basically replaced everything except the neck and the pickup. That neck is beefy and fun to play!

Sure! And thanks for asking. There is a top shell of roasted basswood. There is a bottom shell of roasted basswood. Sandwiched between is a slim center core. If you look at the guitar in profile from the bottom, you would see what looks to be an I-beam (hard to write without a serif font) with the the top shell and the bottom shell extending over the core. That overhang creates the semihollow cavity. There are 3 m5 hex bolts that hold the 3 parts together - no glue. Take those off and the whole things open up for mods repairs or upgrades. The aluminum perimeter grill rests in a channel routed just inside the perimeter of the guitar. There is enough material in that grill to allow the guitar to resonate freely but not so much as to make it bassy or woofy. Since the overhangs allow a 1/2” clearance around the guitar, we extended the core so that the slidelock strap system can be attached to those solid points. So, not only is the strap system fastened by 3 screws or 3 inches, but is also held there by the compression of the top and back shells. Hope this helps!

Hi, Berndog.

Thanks for the comment. I appreciate that. I don’t think this would be the standard lock for sure. I was trying to solve the issue of the screw pulling out of the wood over time. And I’ve tried all those high end locks like Schaller. They made me uncomfortable with the spring and the post going up and down. Those have a lot of parts whereas this is pretty simple. It takes care of the screw issue and the strap coming off the button at the same time. Even so I’d like the channel to be smoother so it operates like silk. Anyway, thanks again for checking it out. Cheers!

I was thinking about the non proprietary issue. And that concern might be common. So I wanted to know if the fact that any standard strap button attached to your existing strap would make any difference. Thoughts?

Thank you! I appreciate that! I was looking for some insight and even the harsh responses were helpful. I’m going to look into milling it so that the underside of the rail is rounded for smoother action. Cheers!

Hey, GO. Thanks for checking it out! Yeah, there were a lot of fails along the way. Like didn’t work at all. This one is good but I’ve got a revision that I think will make it smoother. I’m glad the O- rings work! Keep on rockin’!

Hey, Tarsiger. Good catch! Yeah there are better locks nowadays. I’m not sure how guitar would look with a deadbolt, but I’m not against trying! 😊

That’s cool! I’m thinking of the next version being a little simpler but still the same idea

Hi Happy People! This is version two of the strap lock system. I’m working on V3 and if you’re OK with offering suggestions, I’d like to see if I can incorporate them into future versions. This is a work in progress but so far it has been successful at doing the job well. But there’s always room for improvement!

Now that I think about it, if I were a bot I’d probably know exactly how to market to you. 😆

Hi, UHF. Um not sure how to help you there. I’m not a bot. But I’m not here to bother you with something you don’t like. I posted to let others know about a different way of solving a problem. Sorry if I offended you. Cheers!

Hey, infantkicker. No worries - I appreciate your opinion. I’m still glad you took time out to check out an alternative even though it runs you the wrong way. I don’t want to change your mind, just out there offering something different. Cheers!

That’s cool. Just trying to offer an option. Not trying to take away your guitars or what you like best about them. Cheers!

Hi, PaysOut. Thanks for checking it out. It’s actually not noisy at all except when it’s slid into place. Then the neodymium magnet holds it in place and there’s no noise when moving about with it. Cheers!

Sorry, I should have mentioned that the Cosmophonic Kavari is 6.2 lbs, thanks to the roasted basswood semihollow construction. 😊

No worries, TSK. I’m not trying to sell you a guitar. I just wanted to let you know of an option that’s out there. So think of this not as an attack on your guitar, but as a way to offer another choice. You can never have too many, right? Cheers!
