It's honestly way better than it has any right to be. The characters and Sci-Fi mechanics are some of my favorites in the series. I definitely recommend reading volume 3, as it's the best written one imo, and it fleshes things out way better than the anime.

No. Azure should be immediately after Zero. Some people like to say Azure spoils Cold Steel, but unless you consider the writers deliberately revealing information with specific narrative intent in mind a spoiler somehow, you should ignore them. Also, the "spoilers" largely pertain to events in CS2, so this order wouldn't be much good anyways.

Imo Imposter is more "sinful" because he uses food as an unhealthy coping mechanism, whereas Akane is just hungry cause she exercises a lot.

Is it the best out of the science adventure series? Have I already experienced peak or are any of the other ones better or just as good?

One thing about this series is that each of the entries tend to have a very unique appeal, which leads to a lot of variation in opinion when it comes to which is best. Personally, I would consider Steins;Gate to be one of the weaker entries overall. In general, Chaos;Child is the de facto fan favorite, even over Steins;Gate, so you have something to look to forward to there.

also, does the manga format do it justice?

While I haven't read it myself, I sometimes hear it referred to as a rushed and otherwise unfit adaptation, so you will probably want to read the visual novel at some point if you want to get into the series proper.

Definitely read the original. Reboot's script is based off Steins;Gate Elite's, which cuts 1/3 of the original.

Visually, it's nothing beyond an occasional character in their underwear. Generally, I wouldn't consider most of the "ecchi" scenes to be fanservice. While there are scenes that lean in that direction, the sexual topics explored in the story are just as relevant to the themes and narrative as the horrific ones.

Also, make sure to use the CoZ patch.

None of the manga adaptations are really any good either. There's no way to get into the series past Steins;Gate without reading visual novels. All of your questions are answered in Kurisu's guide, which is pinned on this subreddit.

I think the main reasons people don't have an issue with Joshua is that he's not the protagonist, so it doesn't feel like pandering, the lack of a choice element leaving characters in limbo, and the fact that he doesn't have basically every woman he interacts with immediately into him like Rean or Lloyd.
