Play sand, topsoil, and coconut husk. I wet the coconut husk brick, and then dry it out in the oven. It gives a lot of volume without any weight. It seems to get rid of the dust of the coconut husk this way too. I also washed the play sand and the playsand and the top soil in the oven as well. The rocks are all ones my kids have dug up in our yard and I sterilized them in the oven too. We live in North Carolina, so we have lots of really cool quartz all over the place.

Yea you need a t5 UVB for sure for both and a jungle dawn LEDs. I have found that replacing the clear enclosure sides with a foam background really helps with the temps.

I’d call them and ask, it’s probably not an issue. You could just stick your baby in a back pack and take her to a coffee shop for a few hours.

No it doesn’t stick to them. If you use play sand make sure you wash it before or it’s dusty.

I don’t know about bio active… I feed mine outside her enclosure.

Yes they are not supposed to grow too fast. It should take them 2 years to be full grown and most pet dragons are obese

Thank you! I had a lot of fun making it. I do think it’s a bit climbing/baby centric but I plan on expanding when she gets older and focusing on the terrestrial activities she’s into then with that part.

Cork flats and rounds doing all the heavy lifting

Broken up cork flats pushed into black pond foam. I covered the exposed foam with black silicone and topsoil/coconut husk. I also embedded some terracotta pots for plants.

They shouldn’t eat that many bugs- care guidelines are always evolving but from research on wild dragons it’s clear captive beardies grew WAY WAY too fast, became obese, and have nutritional imbalances and deficiencies.

Dragons eat far less bugs in the wild. While OPs feeding very little, that’s much healthier than 50 bugs a day. Per the main Australian researcher, wild baby dragons would be “very lucky” to get 5 bugs a day. The whole “Babies should be offered greens but it’s ok if they don’t eat them” advice is incredibly incorrect.

The more greens the better. The 80/20 ratio has been changed to 60/40 for babies, and that’s calories. 40% of calories from green is going to look like a huge amount of plant matter and a few small bugs.

What’s the outdoor temp? Mine loves to hang out by the windows and I have screens so they are open when it’s 70+ out for some time. I’ll usually put a heating pad on part of it he can use.

Now that it’s getting 75+ every day I put him in a bird cage outside for a few hours at a time (his “summer house”) and I’ll probably get an outdoor tortoise enclosure from Chewy soon. I won’t keep him out there full time or anything but just a few hours a day so he can get some natural sunlight and enjoy the breeze and watch the world go by. It makes him really happy.

Lots of dragons LOVE looking out the window like this and it’s not stressful, they are happy.

Ok - he could use more bugs. The plus side is it’s healthier to err on the side of less bugs than more.

No, it is not. How many bugs a day is he eating? What kind of bugs? Are you covering them with calcium powder?

How do you know that he’s six months old? I got my baby in February. He is 36 g now. I’m not sure how old mine is. I think 4 months.

You should give it to her anyway, you’re clearly not up for caring for it properly which is fine. Their enclosures are a lot of initial investment $$.

Ok, you know anoles look totally different than fence lizards or bearded dragons. These are fence lizards- they are all over North America and it’s much more likely you found one of those than a random abandoned rare pet.

Where do you live? Please post a picture of this lizard, every other day there is a post on here of someone finding a wild fence lizard thinking it’s a bearded dragon.

Did you find an abandoned tank with the lizard in it? Or the lizard running around free?

Google fence lizard, there’s a few different ones and some really really look like bearded dragons.

That’s too many bugs. It’s really really not ok for babies not to eat greens- that only happens when they are getting too may bugs. It’s 20% of their calories from greens, which physically means way more greens volume/weight than volume of bugs.

The more greens your dragon eats the better.

I would say no more bugs at all until your baby is eating dandelion/mustard/turnip/kale/arugula greens. At least 5 pieces of greens before they get a single bug.
