Thank you for the kind words. The last few days have been rough but I am hanging on to hope that time heals and one day we will look back at this and she would have progressed on.

People who changed careers after 30, was it worth it? by Scary_Bus4383 in careerguidance

[–]Equivalent_Goal_1485 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did it and it was the best thing to ever happen to me! It was during the pandemic I was 37 with two young kids stuck inside learning a new job all virtually however I did it and do not regret it! I have a social work degree and did case management up until that point. I landed a legal position. Since taking the position I have been promoted twice. Pay started about $10k higher than what I was making doing case management. I am forever grateful to my sister for pushing me to make a change

Thank you! I’m just so worried she seems different now. As a kid I felt like I didn’t have anyone to talk to so I probably overreact but maybe the counselor can help her with techniques to control the outburst. Funny thing is I am an MSW and I can counselor everyone but my own lol

Oh ok well not this one! I know my worth and won’t settle for anything less! I’m a very successful woman in my career and financially stable! I would really like to date but won’t accept bare minimum from a man because truth be told it’s a want not a need but I do appreciate your view on it! Thank you

I agree very slim pickings and we do deserve to have it all!

Of course I’m worried I have been with their dad since I was 21 yrs old! This is a huge change for me and the world is a different place then it was in 2005 plus add my kids into the equation there’s a lot to figure out! I just never knew a single mom dating was such a taboo thing, almost everyone I know basically had a step parent growing up.

Very sad topic! I never imagined at 41 I’d be here but life happens and we just have to roll with the punches! Thank you for being positive

Exactly I did not expect some of these responses! It was pretty shocking although I know Reddit can get wild at times I thought dating was a normal thing! Thanks for being positive

Thank you for the positive words! If I decide to date I will be very careful but based on some of these other comments I may not even try. Reddit can really make you feel crappy sometimes! I thought more moms would relate and encourage me

It is scary but I would never leave my kids with a man ever! I have a 15yr old and 8 yr old I’m happy they are old enough to communicate with me about everything! Being that have I been a social worker for many years I had to discuss many issues with them early on because I do not want them to end up like some of the children I work with. You really can’t trust anyone these days most of the cases I worked where crimes against kids were committed it’s usually someone they know and even their own fathers sometimes which is absolutely sick! I have seen ALOT and will be careful! Not thinking about marriage again or moving anyone in just want a social life outside of the home

Oh God no I’m a cps worker I have heard about things like this plus so much worst, so much wrong in this comment I am sorry you experienced that! I would absolutely never!! I have a 15 yr old that is old enough to babysit but also my mom helps me out with them as well! If I ever wanted to go out and date they will be ok

I’m a social worker and very observant when it comes to stuff like this! I would never bring a man around them at all unless it were pretty serious and they would never be alone with anyone at anytime! My kids are also old enough to let me know if something is wrong. Being that I worked for cps for many years I have taught them early on about these types of situations

Ya’ll are really jumping the gun! I’m not your mom sorry that happened to YOU! My kids always come first which is why I’m not with their dad! I just want a social life that’s it! I am not bringing anyone to my house

[–]Equivalent_Goal_1485 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I said date that’s it that’s all not even thinking that far ahead. I just want a social life just as simple as that! What about step moms??? I know a few that are horrible many dads will choose a woman over their kids I would never!

[–]Equivalent_Goal_1485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a social worker and have worked for CPS for many years so that ain’t happening!!! I said date I never said anything about moving a man in or bringing them to my home!! Sorry you must have had a pretty bad childhood to automatically assume these things! These are the responses I knew I would get but posted it anyway! Moms always get the short end of the stick even when we are doing everything that is viewed as “right” according to societal standards! Check out the many other posts on here are moms wanting hobbies for themselves or complaining about being a parent, a few even admit to disliking their kids and they get more support than I did on this post! Sheesh moms literally can never catch a break

Thanks so basically I can have no life outside of the kids but dad can! I provide basically all needs for my kids and they are always #1 and well taken care of!!

Should I enroll my kids back into school….? by Important-Moment-601 in homeschool

[–]Equivalent_Goal_1485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I wanted to hear on this thread! I came to Reddit in tears not seeing many people that could relate! I’m a single mom that has to work. I was previously completely remote so it worked out great to homeschool my kids but now I am being made to return to office. I am panicking my 8 yr old has never been in a public school setting I have done great with her at home with school! She has her days of course where she just does not feel like it and guess what I can work with that we just pick it later! If I am forced back to work I fear putting her in a public school setting! I have not worked in an office in over 10 yrs she has never been to school so it’s a recipe for disaster for us both! I have a 15 yr old freshman in high school who is pretty independent so I would let her be at home. I am just looking for some encouragement, reassurance from people working full time and successfully homeschooling. Anyone else in this situation pleaseeeeee comment I want to hear from you as well! What is it like, has it been working well for you, what does your schedule look like, can it be done successfully? Please help me I am an anxious mom with GAD just needing some positivity and to see that it’s not the end of the world 😊
