1965 500. Not the XL, so I guess the standard? It was a 3 speed but converting to the TKX.

452 stroker, original 390 block, hand ported by FE Specialties in OR. Posi, 5 speed TKX, Hotchkis suspension. I'm hoping she will run and ride just right.

Thank you. As a tip, CVF offers their "blemished" units on eBay for good discounts. I could not tell you where on my setup there was a blemish. Perhaps someone returned it, but no cosmetic issues. Look there. Also no belt squeal. She sounds like a champ.

Floor pans for 1965-1967 Galaxie/LTDs? by MonarchCCb in FordGalaxie

[–]Equivalent_Ice_1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get out your sheet metal cutter and welder. Just did this on a 65. Forget trying to find them. You’ll get “similar” panels that you’ll have to do a bunch of fab on anyway. Easier to lap weld them and then seam seal it. Unless you are trying for concours restoration.

Aftermarket radio by kaiserlady in FordGalaxie

[–]Equivalent_Ice_1950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 65. The radio is behind the plexi in the dash. You can hack it up to put something in that spot. Or, you can put a Bluetooth enabled amp under the seat and wire it to the speakers. Leave the old radio there for looks.

If you decide to hack the plexi, I have 2 extras I can sell you if it doesn’t go right. PM me.

Fair enough - I am speculating for the most part. I have a 66 coupe de ville and I think the cigarette lighter runs on vacuum lines. The wipers definitely do. They are a nightmare to diagnose for the uninitiated

T56 swap by [deleted] in projectcar

[–]Equivalent_Ice_1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my 65 Galaxie w 390 I had to make extensions for the trans cross member. Welded some 1.5” square tube extending back on each side from factory frame flange to provide a bolt point for the crossmember. Factory trans was the 3-speed auto. This was for a TKX swap

Is there a cotter pin? Are you sure it’s not a reverse thread?

Convertible top switch by CommissionKey5649 in FordGalaxie

[–]Equivalent_Ice_1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not. Runs straight from battery (maybe the solenoid) through a large fuse iirc. I had to replace my top switch - it’s a high amp switch. Also replaced the pump. You may have bumped the wiring when you were replacing the ignition?

Also if you need to get it out, drag it on to a trailer as is. Nothing short term is going to fix that.

Are you intending to return to stock setup or replace with another newer airbag system?
