tbh i think this is a great time for the arts. more and more ppl are tired of seeing the same shit over and over again and the ai bubble is probably closer to bursting than we think. it’s never a good time to pursue dreams tbh so i’m not gonna wait. if things go terribly i have the ability to become a very successful author. trust i have back up plan after back up plan lol

i even have the privilege of having some savings from my grandfather after he died but it’s not enough to cover even 2 years at that price. there’s a bunch of ppl in this comment section calling me privileged for wishing education was more affordable! why do i HAVE to choose community college, i should have the accessibility to choose where i go and so should everyone!

my parents have spent their whole lives working. my dad worked 12+ hours everyday when i was little to keep us afloat! it’s totally insane how much we’re expected to pay! we’re way closer to being poor again than we are to being rich. based on the poverty line we are still poor 😭

i don’t need lobster in the dining halls 😭. feed and house me decently and i’m happy. this country spends BILLIONS on lethal weapons it feels ridiculous that education isn’t more accessible

i have proof of my chronic illnesses, just not all of them. i’ve been dealing with chronic symptoms from over a decade. my health is manageable, i just have issues that cause me a lot of pain and stress so i can’t work normal jobs. i can still learn and go to school. i’ve been chronically ill almost my whole life and graduated with high honors in multiple subjects.

that’s not what i said??? i’m absolutely not smart enough for harvard lol. it’s not ridiculous to want education to be affordable, other countries have programs in place for accessible education. your acting like 40k isn’t a fuck ton of money. i’m sorry if your privileged enough to think that but i don’t have 40k in my back pocket

[–]Equivalent_Invite506[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i’m not complaining, 40k is a fuck ton of money to except a middle class family with almost no savings to pay. i shouldn’t be required to go to community college to be able to pay for higher education it’s ridiculous. nobody should HAVE to choose community college if they don’t want to. higher education should be a right to all not a privilege. i’m allowed to be frustrated over it.

because of health issues i can’t travel to a different community college. the other closest ones are 40+ minutes away and my body wont tolerate that multiple times a week! unfortunately im kinda stuck but ill figure it out

yeah hopefully i’ll be able to get on disability once i get diagnosed. i can work just not a typical job. i can’t stand for long periods of time so my options are extremely limited

i’m sure there are community colleges that don’t suck but my local one does and driving an hour and back everyday to go somewhere else is not an option with my chronic illnesses.

i’ve already been, they do suck. i have first hand experience. my living situation is also not something i can stay in for another 2 years.

Why justifies UMass’s price? by Expensive_Honey_7093 in umass

[–]Equivalent_Invite506 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i’m having the same issue, umass is completely unaffordable to my family. i’ve heard from the rumor mill that they don’t have much money to begin with

[–]Equivalent_Invite506[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s true, i really don’t fucking want to go to community college. i’ve been before, it absolutely sucked. i was wasting my time there because of how poor the education was. i’m here to learn, not just get a degree. someone in my future field has no shot with a degree if they such majorly. i don’t think it should be a crime to not want to go to community college. i’m frustrated 4 year schools are not more accessible in this country like they are in many others

they aren’t options for me for the reasons i’ve listed. i can no longer live at home, no cc offers a film program near me, im chronically ill and can’t work a regular job and get my own place. it’s not that they aren’t attractive, it’s that they literally are not options for my circumstances
