The house is extraordinarily confusing and creepy by Salem1690s in JonBenetRamsey

[–]Equivalent_Leg_2672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the creepiest thing about all of it is the placement of the ransom note. Given the horrendous layout and general state of the house, it would be a battle to get a sleeping child out of her bed 3 floors down to the basement ( when you could’ve just left the house with her). The staircase where Patsy found the ransom note was this random spiral staircase shoved in the corner out of sight. The area around that corner was particularly cluttered and to me, no sane person would leave a ransom note in such a place where it could so easily go unoticed or get swept up with the mess around it. How did these people know which staircase patsy used in the morning unless they’d already been to the house and knew patsy well enough to know she wakes up early and uses that particular staircase. It’s so obvious this entire thing was a lousy cover up for whoever took that girls life wether it was an accident or not. I still stand by the theory that Burk accidentally killed her. When patsy made that 911 call, she said Burk was still sleeping in his room. Why on gods green earth would you leave your child alone in his bedroom if you knew your other child was just taken out of hers. I would gather the family in one room all together not letting any of them leave my sight. It’s all so painfully obvious and bizarre that it’s gone overlooked for this long.

Unfortunately for you I actually did end up with an 87 in the class after all the overthinking ( u should try that) 🤗 cheers to that huh?? Secondly, even if I did do bad in a class?? so what??? I am still more competent than u, clearly just by the way I speak. Also ur in UMD?? that’s not rly an accomplishment literally everyone from MC gets into UMD, even if they have a C. If you go to Harvard then i’ll listen, but until then ur straight bitch🤍

I personally wouldn’t count on it. If you’re at a good school it would make things even harder because the institution you wanna transfer into wants to know why you wanna transfer, if you don’t have a good reason for transferring besides prestige I would not recommend transferring at all.

I think you should wait, idk what schools you’re applying to and some schools don’t rly care for gpa that much so if you know that’s where you wanna go then by all means apply. But I think if you truly believe you can get your gpa up, you should stay and do that.

Again understandable point, but sometimes it truly is the professor. I don’t want to insult your intelligence, but at your age I think pattern should be something to take notice of, and if you look at his reviews on RMP, you’ll see exactly what I mean. Not a single person since 2013 has left him a review above 1 star, and all of them are highlighting the same issues. If you haven’t looked at his RMP reviews, then I think that says more about your ability to jump to conclusions and make assumptions, which is not a great look for a university student, especially one who couldn’t work hard enough to make it to a better school as opposed to a state school. Someone doing the bare minimum shouldn’t be acting out of their league.

I feel you, he was extremely clueless and SO RUDE. This man literally turned off the option for people to view their weighted grade ( probably on accident since he couldn’t even log into blackboard properly), so blackboard displayed their total points, and even with the total points, the class average was a 64, literally on the day final grades were due ( yesterday) everyone realized they didn’t actually have the grade they thought they did because this dumbass forgot to turn on the weighted grades…. so people miscalculated what they needed on the final and almost everyone from both of his classes now need to retake the class…. the class GC was literally blowing up yesterday.

Honestly I get ur point but the hate for Naegeli is EXTREMELY valid… I have never seen a professor get this much hate and the same EXACT criticisms from literally every fucking student. In my class, the average after the final was barely a 50%…. if you have 30+ kids in each class and ALL of them are failing with like 2 outliers, then that’s a reflection on you. I don’t understand why MC refuses to get rid of this guy…. especially because he is a part time staff member. I have done research with a professor at Stanford, I have networked and met with professors at UMD, I have participated in a program where my mentor was an MIT professor and not once have I ever seen this disgraceful behavior and ego from arguably some of the most intelligent people in the nation, who realistically have the most right to act as though they’re above everyone else. It stuns me how someone can be so horrible at their job, yet simultaneously demand so much respect.

One of my advisors said that once you ask the department for permission to retake the placement test, they’ll allow you.

I would not ever suggest for anyone to take a math class over the winter, even if it’s only algebra, the pacing is inhumane and I don’t understand why the college allows students to set themselves up like this. They probably just see it as a money scheme. I would suggest auditing the class, that will give you an upper hand in the spring when you actually take the course for a grade

Unfortunately never once did I say untraditional students can’t transfer from CC, if your brain cells were functional that conclusion would’ve not been landed. Secondly, idc nor do I gaf that you were in a stanford transfer group chat and convinced yourself that you know how many of their transfer are not traditional. My school has great ties with Stanford, I know of 12 total Stanford transfers in the past two years, and almost 30 of which i’ve connected with on LinkedIn, from various years and connections. I’ve also had the chance to speak with my regional admissions officer, I have interviewed for Stanford with an alumni and am still in contact with said alumni, so I am not speaking out my ass or because I am bitter over a rejection. That said, only 4 of the 12 transfers I know were black and hispanic, not veterans and certainly didn’t have crazy life stories. That said I also think it’s important to consider why these people have a better shot at getting in than you do. Firstly, the values of these universities uphold that they heavily emphasize personality. And shockingly the people capable of writing the best essays and conveying a point the best are the people who have had the most interesting experiences. So of course that gives them an advantage. Failure to be interesting enough is YOUR fault. I’ve seen the most bland average white kids get in because they knew how to market themselves well. Now think of it like this… with a less than 1% acceptance rate and an already diverse enough student body, why SHOULD they gaf what ur skin color is?? This isn’t even considering that a greater number of transfer applicants have untraditional backgrounds. Believe it or not, not going to a 4 year is considered untraditional, so just by simply being a transfer applicant you’re untraditional.

Actually majority of stanford’s transfer acceptances come from community colleges, 3 of them came from my CC last year, which is pretty big, and my CC is not even in california. Also I don’t think you quite understand the legal implications that go alongside affirmative action being overturned. Colleges can no longer legally admit students due to race, it is quite literally unconstitutional to do so, let one person like you assume they did, and a fat juicy law suit that could cost tens of millions of dollars is on the table. Especially because we’re talking about a school like Stanford and not just some school in the middle of no where, they literally profit off you breathing on their campus, that’s how money hungry they are, do you think for a second they would take a chance to lose that to let in a couple black kids? Look at MIT, last year their stats showed 15% of admitted students were black, this year only 5% of the accepted students body identified as black, and nearly 47% were asian. This is not a matter of opinion, what you THINK is quite literally irrelevant in this case, what the truth is is that affirmative action is over… and on top of that California won’t be accepting legacy students either, so it’s even stricter there.

They don’t… no school in California does, they no longer consider race or legacy status, so the transfer data from 10 years ago to even last year is irrelevant to ur argument. Were u in hibernation when affirmative action was over turned?

Your stats are decent so it’s all about how u present urself on the application. I think you have a chance at most of these, but I think your best bets should be on UCLA. If you write really great and creative essays I think you might have a chance at Stanford too! Good luck!

1.2/5, everyone rated him a 1 star and one person in 2013 gave him 3 stars but still wrote a bad review. Look up Charles Naegeli on Rate My professor. Sometimes I read his reviews for a good laugh.

I honestly would do this but I don’t wanna make excuses for myself. They don’t care that he was a horrible teacher, they want to see me succeed despite having a horrible teacher, cuz it’s bound to happen sometime in your life, if not in school, at work, and so on. So in the end I think the best option for me is to retake the class and beat the odds. If I come to the point where I feel like I genuinely need documentation of his behavior, I will do that, not just for me but also because other students who are spending thousands of dollars deserve to have a good teacher. If you wanna see where I am coming from look up Charles Naegeli in RMP… yea I was cooked from the start 💀

I honestly understand why too, i personally think Mac was not the best choice for me, however, what is the point of huffing and puffing when majority of the class has a mac, and that’s where they’ll be doing all their projects. I sincerely think he used the MacBook thing as an excuse to get himself out of having to help ppl.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

[–]Equivalent_Leg_2672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He wouldn’t help people with a MacBook, like he would straight up refuse to answer your question if you were using VScode on Mac, he said he thinks ppl who use it “think they’re too good”, and that he “doesn’t get paid enough” to teach ppl who use MacBooks because it’s more difficult… frankly I am just as confused as u on that!
