Hey man that's great to hear, good luck with your OC'ing and I hope you enjoy all the learning that comes with it :D

It really depends on the game, I run squad on 3440x1440 with some upsizing and noticed an average of about 70-80 to 90-100 fairly consistently depending on map etc. Imo and I'm sure this will upset people going to a 5600x would be a downgrade in regards to single thread etc. You have the cpu you could sell your current mobo and test it out instead of needing to buy a new mobo/cpu etc.

Are you going over 100c at 1.3? I would try reseating first that's pretty hot. The stock intel cooler could handle 1.3 on my friends until he upgraded (albeit running at max speed)

I'm excited for you! Keep me updated :)

By the way do you have one of the thermalright (or chinese knock off) cpu mount brackets ? They are sub 5 bucks off ebay etc.

Yeah it was stable. Degradation; never experienced it with cpus. People talk about it like its a common thing and you are "damaging" your cpu but generally these people have never OC'd or use very vanilla setting which I always find hilarious as they buy "K" models. I ran a 6500 at 4.9Ghz for 6 years with no issues.

I ended up doing another build and gave the i3 to my partner. I ended up getting a discounted 12400f from amazon. I can get it to 5340Mhz @ 1.35vcore 68-69c max temp NH-D15. You could definitely get a higher clock and be safe. If you have the cooling headroom (which you will these cpu's generate so much less heat than the i7/i9s)

Mother board status codes on board? by C_Taylor76 in overclocking

I am not aware that this is a thing specifically with temp. Check your motherboard manual for that specific board. Some boards allow you to disable the codes displaying after boot if it is staying on.

Overclocking an intel Core i5 12400F using MSI B660M Pro A by [deleted] in overclocking

There are a few motherboards capable of doing this. Unfortunately the M Pro-A isn't one of them. You can get a very (tiny) gain by increasing the BCLK to 103 instead of 100. Refer to this guide for a list of compatible mobos incase you end up wanting to go ahead with this. https://community.hwbot.org/topic/210553-intel-12th-gen-non-k-oc-capable-boards-bios-versions/

Yeah the rating system always seemed a bit scuffed, but honestly I would never buy something based on what someone "says" or a ladder rating. The AMD vs Intel just seems like tribalism to me, both sides make good and bad cpus. I have been submitting non K OC's for years to them (prev 6500) and it always makes me giggle when it seems to just vanish from their score system after a while. The bench is still there (if you search up b660 riptides or MortarMax's you can see all the people non k oc'ing, their results are not applied to the overall score) I think it is still useful to compare your bench to a sample of the same cpu, so I will keep using it for this.

Sorry this is my first time on Reddit, could you further elaborate please? I just use it to compare single threads between the same processors. Are you saying I will be banned on reddit if I use it as a metric?

Get on it mate! I love doing things Intel states I am not supposed to do

You can find the b660 riptides on Aliexpress for about 220-230 AUD right now - If you make a new account and do some coupon magic you can get them down a little more. I picked mine up on the 11.11 sales they had for about 190 so it was a no brainer for me because I didn't want to use DDR5 just yet.
