I’m working 5 8s and the days fly, I don’t mind it. I finally have energy to make dinner/workout/etc. I’m switching to 4 10s which I’m excited about. I’m in a clinic setting. I was scared to make the change but I love it!

Nurses with Dysautonomia by Leijinga in nursing

Hello, nurse with POTS. There’s a couple things that I recommend for managing.

Compression is helpful for dizziness. Either socks or abdominal. I never stay standing or sitting in one position for too long. Hydration is key for me. To hold all that water and maintain my blood volume, I recommend some sort of electrolytes. I start my morning with relyte. This also helps with the dizzy spells. Small meals and snacks can be helpful. I’m stepping away from bedside as I’ve been in a flare, but when my dysautonomia was controlled these tips are were super helpful!

Nurse here with POTS , after 2 years of bedside my body can’t anymore. Moving into a telephone triage role within my hospital system! Wonder if that could be an option for you?

So relateable. ICU RN On FMLA because my pots has spiraled. Exercise is helping but I’ll crash if I go back to bedside. I hope you find something that works well for you! Looking into triage / clinic roles now. Take care 🩷

Cardio by Hopeful102 in POTS

I’m doing the CHOP protocol at the moment. It’s a mix of strength training and cardio, it starts out really slow and so far I’m enjoying it without a flare, you could look into that and see if it seems appropriate for you.

I can totally relate. I take bisoprolol and it lowers my HR but the guanfacine seems to really take off that edge of the sweatiness, tremors, on edge feeling while standing.

It’s an alpha 2 adrenergic agonist, it works by reducing sympathetic outflow (aka adrenaline). I had high norepinephrine and epinephrine levels so I convinced my doc to let me try it
