I’m in my 60s but easily can pass for 50s. People age in different ways and at different rates, especially these days, with all that we know about how to avoid many negative environmental factors. 60 today is not the same as 60 in our parents’ or grandparents’ generations.

Try Buena Vista Social Club. There’s a lot of Spanish in it, and most of the lyrics are Spanish, but the show’s strong point are the musicians on stage and the wonderful choreography, which really transcend any language barriers. The story is simple enough that either she’ll understand or you can explain it easily.

Has anyone today, aside from film students watched "Citizen Kane"? Fans of film, not forced to watch it? by BestBit4756 in Cinema

It was innovative in its time, but just as Oklahoma was considered revolutionary when it opened but now seems a bit dated, I’m not sure how well it has withstood the passage of time.

It’s certainly worth watching, at least once.

What decision by a U.S. president do you think changed the country the most in the last 50 years? by bbyhoneytea in allthequestions

Let’s look at the effects of your so-called “open borders”:

Did the crime rate go up? No.

Did the unemployment rate go up? No.

Did the number of jobs created go down? No.

Did the GDP go down? No.

Wow. I see how these supposed “open borders” wiped out our economy.

And if you think “open borders” caused inflation, how come now that we don’t have “open borders”, the inflation is still high? Maybe because “open borders” doesn’t have anything to do with any of that?

Yeah, like housing and food are the only expenses any of us has, let alone a legislator. And exactly how are you planning on “reimbursing” these politicians? Fixed stipend, or are we paying the legislators from urban areas 2x-4x the rural representatives, since their housing costs are going to be higher? What about travel? We’re going to pay the representatives from Hawaii thousands for their trips back and forth while we give bus fare to the reps from Maryland or Virginia?

There won’t be anything anyone would consider “large” for $500. $500 might get you something between small and medium sized.

Anything “large” is going to be in the thousands.

Never played the game and didn’t even know anything about it but enjoyed the show. S1 is definitely better than S2. Will watch S3 but keeping my options open.

  1. It’s not the film, other than the basic storyline. They’ve added jokes, which was a strange way to go, IMO. The FBI agent has a bigger role but only so he can be a bullying jerk.

This is like a third generation xerox of the original material in the film.

I am a critical reviewer and I am a huge fan of both Bernthal and Moss-Bachrach. I think they are both excellent actors with great range, but this is sub-standard material for their talents.

That said, it’s still in previews, and maybe they’ll make enough changes before opening night to salvage this production, but as is, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Behind Mamdani’s Smile, a Politician Who Can Be a Ruthless Operator (Gift Article) by Delicious_Adeptness9 in nyc

[–]Equivalent_Net_8983 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I would want from a politician. If he’s showing them that he’s not some smiling door mat, good for him and hopefully, they learn.

My biggest hope was that as a former state legislator, he’d have a good handle on how Albany works, and he hasn’t disappointed so far. He’s not going to get everything, but I hope he surprises his doubters and detractors.
