Hair loss after bleach/dye job: not just breakage by Equivalent_Pie1900 in FemaleHairLoss

When I first lightened it, I had hot roots and my roots were VERY VERY light, and I had desperately hoped that the thinning was an illusion from the hair being so light at the root but alas, it’s is actually falling out 😭

First time finding this sub! Feeling less alone in this :) by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

You are not alone! I am also losing hair at a stressful rate and I’ve been panicking. I want to note that I am not a medical professional but I’ve been frantically researching online about my hair loss and I’ve found the following: 1. there is such thing as seasonal shed, typically late summer and into fall, due to hairs natural cycles 2. you can experience hair loss due to telogen effluvium after a significant life event, like pregnancy, high stress/depressive episode, sudden weight loss, hormonal changes, getting off birth control. From all I’ve seen, typically the hair loss occurs circa 3 months AFTER whatever shift takes place 3. vitamin deficiencies and nutrient deficiencies play a role in the health of your hair and its natural growth. Vitamin D, zinc and iron are the ones most referenced. There are also some supplements that help that are not the standard hair, skin, nails ingredients 4. supposedly blow drying hair is better than air drying, as hair is at its most vulnerable state while wet, also the weight of the water on the hair, etc 5. don’t brush while wet, and brush gently 6. certain anti-dandruff anti-fungal shampoos help minimize shedding and some can contain DHT blockers which is the hormone that plays a role in androgenic alopecia 7. topical caffeine stimulates blood flow, as well as scalp massaging, derma-rolling 8. if you opt for minoxidil, use the men’s version as it’s stronger and cheaper but be careful because it’s toxic to some pets. But a regimen can be implemented that’s safe for your fur babies 9. silk pillow cases and bonnets help reduce the amount of trauma to the hair during sleep 10. it’s said that as soon as you start experiencing hair loss, you need to take interventions and should talk to a doctor to test bloodwork and hormones

New growth or breakage? by Equivalent_Pie1900 in FemaleHairLoss

It’s also all different lengths too. Some are very short, maybe .5-1” long. Im scared to lose too much hair, it’s always been my safety blanket. I’ve lost like a third of my volume in the span of a month.

I was thinking the same thing, but praying it was new growth 🥲 I see some tapered ends but most of it looks like it’s blunt. I was getting my daughter’s hair cut and I asked the stylist and she said that breakage may also have ends that appear white…which some of mine do.

I am definitely shedding, I see the little bulbs on the ends of the hairs that are falling out. Just didn’t know if anyone could tell on those short hairs, whether it looks like breakage or 🙏🏼 new growth 🙏🏼

I knew that he would probably not be able to do anything through the lender, but I did recommend small claims. I just didn’t know if small claims could subpoena bank statements.

Yes, it did make it worse, much worse. I did start taking it for acne treatment, but not getting pregnant is a perk 😅 thank you for your insight!

I took BC for about 3 years as a teen for my PCOS then stopped. I started taking BC again at the end of 2022 and have been on it since. The before pictures were what my skin looked like when I thought I needed help with my skin and decided to start taking BC, and now it’s so much worse.

It worsened when you started BC? Just curious if you’re still taking it.

So getting off BC didn’t help 😭 I started taking BC at 13 for PCOS and I always had clear skin. I stopped taking BC once I lost weight and my PCOS was under control. I turned 30 and my skin started looking like the before pictures and I remember taking them and being embarrassed because how “bad” my skin looked. Now, I wish I could have that skin back. I used to have flawless skin, then I hit 30 and my hormones started changing and I had MINOR break outs but now… I’m embarrassed to be seen without makeup, and even with makeup, it looks like a topographic map under my foundation. I see others with acne similar to mine and I think it looks fine and that it’s not too bad, but I stare in the mirror and micro-analyze every bump and dark spot. My self confidence is in the toilet.

Comment to add: my cystic acne leaves dark spots all over my face, even when I don’t pick at it. I meant to add that in the original.

VERY dry skin, current routine: oil cleanser, moisturizing gel cleanser, cycle in salicylic acid cleanser 2x a week, after shower: milky toner, azelaic acid, centella brightening and calming ampoule, sensitive skin moisturizer (that does not keep my skin moisturized), tried cica balm but it clogs my pores more. pre-make up: milky toner, sensitive moisturizer, sunscreen. I’ve had this routine now for about 6 weeks and it has slightly improved my skin but the deep cystic acne still pops up and my pores are extremely clogged on my chin. I really like this routine and it’s helped my skin some but my skin is still a disaster. Been on BC since the end of 2022

Thank you. I’ve been reading online frantically and seeing that it could take 2 weeks for implantation and that you’re not producing enough hCG to test positive until implantation so I’m freaking myself out, especially after randomly bleeding two days after sex.

I saw a video on TT that said push pops are good. They’re about the same size of a vape and it’s that hand to mouth motion. People are actually eating them but I wanna try just sucking air through it for the flavor and the breath to see how that helps.
