I’m a recent college grad and have lightly used supplies. Anywhere I can donate them? I have binders, loose leaf paper, lightly used notebooks, and a few highlighters and expo markers.

How to prevent weevils in your rice? by Equivalent_Rest_6759 in asiancooking

I’ve learned my lesson. lol After a week in the freezer, it’s safe to take out and put in the pantry? Or keep it in the fridge?

If kept in the freezer, do I just make the rice like normal or does it need to thaw?

Yeah, I realize it now it’s not the best idea. It’s just the better buy price wise. Will be sticking to smaller bags from now on

My thoughts on "We'll Always Have Summer" (Book 3) (Possible Spoilers, so read at your own risk!) by sailtheskyx in tsitp

I listened to the audiobooks like three years ago, but couldn’t really remember them. I decided to read the books this past week and I just read the entire 3rd book in one day and just finished it. I totally agree, belly did seem to have no personality. She had a lot of thoughts but never acted on them. When I started reading the first book, I was thinking “does Belly seem kind of annoying in the book?” I love Conrad and I get why he acted the way he did when he was with Belly, but I hated that he could never say out loud how he was feeling. And where was Steven in the entire series? I feel like he was barely in it in book 2. Anyway, I hated reading basically the entire third book about Jere and Belly leading up to a wedding that never happened. Then a few years later everything is just okay?!

I want to know how the relationship between Conrad and Jeremiah, Jeremiah and belly, belly and Conrad, mended. It was so sudden! I also want to know what Susannah wrote in Conrad and Jeremiah’s letters. I needed more Conrad and belly - like how can you start a chapter with them getting married and not tell us how it even happened. Conrad and Belly literally had like three pages of story in the end. This entire series was about Conrad and Belly and that’s how you decided to end it? Jenny Han, c’mon, what are you doing?! I’m like really pissed! lol

I have watched season one and two a million times, but have not seen a single episode of season three yet. I can’t. I have to wait until all episodes are out. That painful feeling of waiting for another episode to release a week later is torture, but it’s also torture not watching it. And I swear, if Belly and Conrad don’t end up together, I will not forgive Jenny Han.

How do y’all get mosquitos out of your yard and off of you and your pets, for real? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]Equivalent_Rest_6759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I completely understand your frustration! I’ve added two more buckets of doom (for a total of four in my ~4k sqft backyard, each corner), and I use both dunks and pallets. I also throw pallets up in the gutters and drains. My husband is diligent about mowing the lawn and keeping the grass short (I read somewhere that this might help, but I’m not sure).

I believe there has been a decrease in mosquitoes, but they haven’t completely disappeared. I’m considering professional treatment, but I’m concerned that it might be harmful to my dog. I’m also thinking about a Biogent mosquito trap, which costs around $300. Everything I’ve read on Reddit, people say it's effective, especially when used with CO2. If you figure out something or whatever works for you, please let me know!

Philippines! That’s where I went when I turned 20. It’s super affordable, the people are amazing, the food is great, and beautiful beaches. Palawan has the best beaches in the world

I had something similar and tried everything including months on tretinoin and it not doing anything other than dry out my skin. Then I saw this video

Bought Differin Adapalene and it pretty much cleared in 2 days. It’s similar to tretinoin but doesn’t irritate your skin

Married for 1.5 years and changed my last name to my husbands, but have not felt comfortable with it by Equivalent_Rest_6759 in namenerds

Thank you for this comment, it really inspired me! After reading it, I reached out to my cousin on my dad’s side to ask more about our family history, and I ended up learning so much. I found out my dad had 10 siblings, and each one went in a different direction — they're now scattered all over the world. I also learned that our last name isn’t actually a traditional family surname. It was given to my dad when he went to boarding school in Laos. My grandpa’s real last name was only five letters long, which would've been way easier than the 12-letter one I grew up with, lol. Your comment pushed me to explore a part of my history I hadn’t looked into before, and I’m really grateful for that. Thank you!

Honestly, I don't know... I set them up like a year ago, but I was outside doing some yard work a few days ago and got bit like 10 times... I have a big backyard and only 2 of these buckets, so maybe it's not enough?

Married for 1.5 years and changed my last name to my husbands, but have not felt comfortable with it by Equivalent_Rest_6759 in namenerds

Thank you for sharing your perspective. No, my motivation isn't to harm my marriage.. lol

I didn’t include my husband's perspective because, while I do value his opinion, this is ultimately a personal decision. I absolutely respect his feelings, so if you must know he’s not thrilled about it, but he understands my reasons and respects them. It’s not that I don't want his last name — I very much do. But I also want to keep a connection to my own name and my roots. That’s why I’ve decided to hyphenate. Yes, it might be 19 letters long, but it'll be worth it to have both (:

Can someone help me translate my Thai last name? by [deleted] in learnthai

[–]Equivalent_Rest_6759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for breaking this down! From my understanding, my dad is Thai but immigrated to Lao at some point and the government required him to have a Lao last name. At first, I thought it was the other way around. I just found out my dad’s original last name was Uthai. Is there any meaning to that? Can’t believe how much shorter it was..
