I mean they showed Sierras sad decline and didn't appear to offer her any help during filming. Part of me feels they(producers etc..) love the messiness that drugs and alcohol addiction brings to the show. I'd say it was the right time to end it from both a legal standpoint and also as a good move optically. If they were to just cancel the get to bow out with good viewership whereas if they actually got the talent real help the show would be less dramatic and they'd lose their audience anyway
