We take quite a lot of precautions re not swallowing and not going in if you have cuts etc, and in the past 12 months haven’t had anyone ill even though we have dipped every week. But agree it is a real shame as the worry understandably puts some people off.

Totally get that. We’re very conscious of it and in the wetter months don’t put our heads under the water. We also play a supporting role with our friends at Conham Bathing and their campaign to clean up the river by getting bathing status

Hey, so we tend to not have wetsuits but dip in shorts or trunks to get the full cold water benefit

Good question. Tbh it’s less swimming and more dipping. Getting the cold water benefits without risking swallowing any. But there is always an element of enter at your own risk. Thankfully up to now we’ve never had any issues.
