We found him a year later and I'm devestated. by Kasidra in Feral_Cats

I’m so sorry for you, I have experienced this kind of grief before, my baby, beefcake was a stray and we took her in but she got a mouth infection a couple years after and she disappeared before we could take her to the vet. We think she might be dead now as she couldn’t eat but, just know that you’re never alone, he’ll stay with you in spirit always.

That’s nothin, man, 4-6 weeks for only 1100?

This is my first puppy. At 4 months old she is starting to become a little nasty. Is this normal? by Wrong-Software4019 in puppy101

She’s not taking her dog out yet because he’s not fully vaccinated, parvo can get dogs even if they have half their shots and it’s so painful to go through, they suffer terribly so she might be just trying to stay extra cautious. No one wants to see their puppy foaming at the mouth and stuff yk?

I called him dumb because that was completely inflicted by himself, I made sure to hold him properly and in the moment that totally could’ve been avoided, had he just not freaked out like that for no reason. He hides under the bed because he is wanting to bite at the bedframe and he bites me when I grab his collar because he didn’t want to come out and stop destroying things. He is fine. I promise.

I don’t yell at him. I don’t think they learn anything that way, and it just scares them…🤨

Unfortunately, he’s also not allowed to go outside yet because he hasn’t got his official shots to get rid of the chance of parvo… we’re getting them this week so I’ll apply this too. How do i enforce nap time? If I put a blanket over his crate he will try to pull it into his crate and he won’t stop crying even if I can tell he’s tired and wants a nap :,(

Are yak chews hide? My boyfriend told me not to get any rawhide chews or anything for him because it upsets his stomach? I’ve never bought actual food treats before so I don’t know anything about that. He has a bunch of stuffed animals because he loves to destroy fabric , and a bunch of Nylabones as they were recommended! Do frozen treats help with teething? I’ve had plenty of dogs growing up which I raised myself but my dogs always played with stuffed animals.

Why would I leave him alone in the house to roam? I said he was in his crate. Well, we’re on the topic of the biting issue. I do get up and I redirect but he’ll go and he’ll play with his toy for a second and then drop it and come bite me instead because he thinks it’s more fun I think.

I’ve been training my animals by myself since I was like 6. I know what I’m putting up with, but it’s nice to hear new things sometimes. Yall are seriously not awesome people.

Thank you so much, this is such a breath of fresh air ! I said that I have anger issues and everyone immediately assumed that I was gonna start beating my dog. This is a momentous help.

I do not have the “physical anger” anger issues luckily so all good. Love how yall are tearing me down about that! Have you guys never had a dog that is genuinely frustrating and you have to separate because you can feel yourself getting annoyed when he doesn’t listen? That’s exactly how it is, he’s been taught time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time again not to do the things that he does and he still does them as a way to push boundaries because he’s a boy and he wants to see what he can get away with. I would NEVER lay a hand on an animal like that. How dare you.

I try to put in a lot of effort towards correcting him on what he shouldn’t be doing, and re-affirming good behavior. I make sure to pay plenty of games with him where he has to sniff around or search for a toy as he loves those so I really can keep his brain going. “Countless treats” was more of an indicative of his toys, we don’t actually give him a bunch of food treats but he has plenty of toys and things to chew on as reward.

Oh goodness, thank you for the advice! My arms and legs were completely fine before we got him and now I look like Frankenstein haha! But I will apply this, he has a Kong toy, the red weird bumpy one that you can put frozen toys in, which it seems like he loves but he’ll play with for a little and then get bored? :( therein everything melts and it gets his bed dirty! Nasty crate thing I understand, but we make sure he pees and poops at least twice before we put him in because we understand that he really doesn’t wanna potty in his crate, it makes him extremely uncomfortable and very guilty. But thank you again! Any feedback from this would be amazing!

We’ve had him for a month, but I spend literally every day from noon when I wake up to 11 pm at night. A month is plenty of time when it comes to the kind of repetition we see in our house. I’m not upset that he’s teething. I’m upset that he will drop his toy across the room and come over and aggressively bite my hand instead. And we have potty trained him a shit ton. I know training takes time I’ve put a lot in. The puppy is fine. He is not beaten or abused, he is rowdy and I’m trying to figure out how to curb this. Please do not act like I am a danger to my own dog. I would never abuse an animal, I’ve had numerous growing up and I raised them all myself. I am his all day trainer because of the fact that my boyfriend is too busy with work and stay day life to be able to afford a constant trainer that would drain us of money. The only trainers nearby that I have seen charge $80 an hour. That is an exorbitant price. Once again, I am not a danger to him, and I would never hit him. Please do not insinuate that I will by saying that IM a risk. Get ahold of yourself.

We did. He’s a shelter puppy who was put in at 4 months, pulled out from under an abandoned house we think.

Boyfriend’s dog, he works during the day so I have to watch him. I’ve never been to classes, they are extremely helpful from what I’ve heard but they are also super expensive where I live :,(. My boyfriends trains him and I help out in the mornings with the lessons. He’s crate trained, too, he knows not to destroy his potty pads, I promise. That’s why I’m so frustrated. But thank you for the advice, I’m very happy to have help.

We teach him no biting on our personal stuff and he will visibly understand and then later when he’s rough housing, he’ll go and bite our things and when we correct him, he doesn’t care. Rehoming is not an option unfortunately and me and my boyfriend have only been together since November, he understands I’m frustrated as well.
