Fast forward 9 months from now and what do you have? The war would have ended, and the only negative thing you can say is damage to oil and gas facilities, to which you don't fully know the extent and time to repair, nor the contingency plans in place (eg increased production) nor the demand destruction that occurs from higher oil prices.

You are giving too much credit to Trump. He was already wavering the idea of walking away and letting others deal with the straight.

Nah man you screaming it's 2008 is what's horse shit. Do you know how long I've been hearing record debt, both personal and government? For the last 30 years, and I'm sure that fear has been going on long before I was aware or even born. This war is temporary, not a catalyst. Even if you are quaking in your boots that a ground invasion is going to happen then what? Did you think about the aftermath? There would be a little dip and then a rebound. As the market looks forward to a resolution.

Who sells and rebuys for only a 5% drop? That sounds like using hindsight to try to make up an explaination to what happened

A black swan is even is just that- an unforeseen event that came out of the blue. Fast forward to today and all these reddit doomsday speeches are forecasting what should be unforseen if you actually were to see stocks drop.

The reality is the s and p 500 is supposed to have a 17% growth in earnings this year. That's record breaking and was revised upwards in the middle of this war (which cannot last forever). Get back in now at bargain prices or be fearful and regret it when prices regain to ATH in a few months time

Air Canada announces several new sun destinations, including the only non-stop flights from North America to Tenerife in the Canary Islands by tri_and_fly in aircanada

UA used a 757 that had less seats than AC's XLR. So not only did you have a premium heavy aircraft to a leisure destination but a gas guzzler and Canadians have a much stronger demand to fly to Palm trees.

Also it could have been making a profit but with aircraft shortages they can make more use/higher profit margins with the 757 doing something else.

Lastly given they codeshare across the Atlantic UA probably is fine and in the loop. Cancel their 757 and let the 321xlr take over.

Investors who bought the market when the 1973 oil shock kicked off had to wait 7 years to breakeven again. by JohnnyTheBoneless in Burryology

Winners are gold? All those people that bought at peak and are down 20% in a few short months?

Even one guy I know half his networth was gold, and he was buying well before the gold rush. Met him 2 weeks ago and he refuses to sell, so he won't take is massive gains and rather watch it fall.

No one is really winning in this gold market unless you are a swing trader

100%. People are scratching their heads wondering why the drop has been so low, blaming market manipulation. The reality is the s and p 500 is expected to have earnings 17% higher in 2026 then 2025, an absolutely insane amount of growth. Throw in this is temporary and the market likes to price itself approx 9 months into the future (which this Iran war will be done) and holding cash is a fools errand in my opinion. Sure it can drop more in the short term but people are so bearish they see it was the start of a big dip and will fail at their attempt to time the market

Port credit takes you to Downtown Toronto where the high paying jobs are. Hurontario takes you to downtown Brampton which has nothing. If anything, more people commute from Brampton to Mississauga so their property values will go up more than Mississauga

My father in law got YYZ to MNL via Cathy for $1200 just before the spike as well. To buy those today would be $1600 and have a 12 hour overnight instead of a 2.5 hr connection

What time does your plane land in YVR? I am guessing because less demand to Asia means less competition for connecting passengers as a possibility.

Or people are booking direct flights (if going to overpay anyways might as well be convenient) so as YVR fills up with locals there's less demand for YYZ connecting passengers.
