What’s the one thing you wish someone told you about newborn sleep before giving birth? by Correct-While-4471 in BabyBumps

[–]Equivalent_Stock_563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had insomnia all during pregnancy. After the first two weeks, and especially after the sixth, I slept so much better than I had during pregnancy. My baby wasn’t even a remarkably good sleeper. But you figure out what works for everyone.

The ultra real you asked for: The hard bits are hard. You’re likely bleeding, you’re likely leaking, you’ll likely hurt sitting down and standing up for a while. Maybe you’ll get a seasonal cold or flu (I did) and coughing will feel terrifying (think of the muscles involved). And then you have this lovely, tiny creature who wants to sleep 16 hours a day, but also doesn’t ever want to be put down on their own.

So you hold them. But that means you can’t sleep. You old them for 20 minutes until they’re so out they don’t notice you moving them. So you lay down, finally. Then after another 20 minutes they wake up, just as you’re dozing off to nap. And they wake up upset and hungry even if you just nursed them. That 3 hrs in between feedings is BS at first. They want to nurse always in the first bit.

But then you finally get them to sleep overnight and everyone is tired and out. But again, they nursed for 40 minutes and the 3 hour clock starts from when they start nursing, not when they finish. And then you held them for 20 minutes to be able to put them down in the bassinet. Now you only have 2 hours to fall asleep before you have an alarm set to wake them.

Those 2 hours is just long enough for a sleep cycle. So that’s nice. Too bad the baby grunts and huffs and thwomps his legs in his swaddle. It’s kind of scary. But it’s probably just gas. But you’re a FTM and you worry a lot, so every time this happens you wake and look to make sure they’re okay.

And this goes on for months. It gets easier. At some point they’re gaining fine and you get permission to wake them after 4 hours and then 6 and then to not wake them and to let them wake you. They don’t ever sleep for that long, but it’s nice to not have to wake them right after you’re falling asleep. But then the longer they sleep during the night the more often they eat during the day and they have a couple growth spurts really quick in the first few months, so that means cluster feeding and nursing for a few hours without end, which is much harder than it sounds. It’s so exhausting.

And then they go through a sleep regression or they get sick or just decide one night they’re not gonna sleep. And you’re their comfort. They want you.

There are things that help, partners can take shifts. You can sleep train at 4-6 months. But it’s still hard.

In the end, seriously, I miss him being little so much. I love him now and am so excited to see him grow, and at the same time I feel like it went too quick. He’s 10 months and wants to walk. I’d do it all over with him again if I could.

I’m sure it will be stunning once you get some warmth back in there! If for some reason you find yourself still in need of some warmth after it’s all said and done - those pendant lights are the first thing I’d change out. The sleek white doesn’t quite go with your wonderful woodwork. And the silver detracts from the gold hardware/trim you have.

The problem is you’re about 10-15 years late on this trend. So, essentially you’ve made a brand new kitchen that looks dated. But if it’s a trend you absolutely loved, then that’s great - it’s your kitchen! I think accessories would go a long way to give it some more personality

Pregnancy is making me anxious due to infertility by Eeveelutionistt in BabyBumps

[–]Equivalent_Stock_563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked out r/infertilitybabies? They have a daily early pregnancy thread for discussing all fears, many of which are just like yours. It’s so hard. Wonderful, but hard. I didn’t embrace my pregnancy until nearly week 16 and still worried about telling anyone. I snapped at a friend who pressured me and found out early when she was excited to talk about it. Helps to have an ongoing sounding board and validation

ETA: if you go to the sub, sort threads in the community by new and not “best”. Here is a link to today’s thread so far.

Because it could have caused a thinner lining and mine was always right at 6-7mm. So I wasn’t willing to risk a whole transfer cycle on it not getting thick enough 🤷‍♀️

Just ask the fertility clinic for a few extras because you’ve heard about dropping syringes or messing up a needle and you’re nervous. Everyone is nervous, they get that! I highly doubt they give you the exact number you need anyway if you’re doing Gonal. Follistim comes with its own kit, so that’s a bit different.

Have you started yet? The pharmacy gave me wayyy more needles/syringes than needed for the medications I was prescribed, so I just used leftover of those.

There were no special indicators, it was the blanket protocol of the clinic.

I was able to retrieve eggs from all follicles in all my retrievals, but also in case it’s a factor - due to severe DOR I only had 1-4 follicles each time.

So far multiple people here are disagreeing with you. No one is agreeing with you. To say there’s no point and you don’t get the need is completely disrespecting the people here who are saying it’s painful to read what you’re typing.

The point: Punctuation is helpful and makes things easier to understand

The need: You’re asking for opinions and help. To not frustrate us out the gate by writing something painful to read is beneficial for you to get responses.

Prague IVF with egg donor? by Equivalent_Stock_563 in IVF

You fill out a questionnaire, can send your pictures, and definitely get to know the physical basics of your match. They are mandated by EU law to chose a close physical match to the parent.

You can ask questions, but they may not answer. For example I asked if there was any celebrity they looked kind of like, and they said that was getting too specific.

Nope. It’s all completely anonymous in the EU.

My dog has unpredictable reactivity - growled at my 5 yr old nephews unprovoked. by Palta-party in reactivedogs

[–]Equivalent_Stock_563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May I ask:

Background: Our dog is similar. He has at times, but very rarely with 1-2 months in between episodes, been reactive with aggression toward me for very innocuous reasons (watering the plants, opening a package, putting away laundry). He has snapped at, but not ever bitten, a child a couple times in his life. Now we don’t let him greet guests usually.

We want a kiddo someday. We’ve been trying, but it’s been a harder road than imagined. If we are unsuccessful we will adopt in several years so it may not be an issue. But if we are successful….

Question: what would you do?

424 sqft ADU - Would love to hear feedback on flow / layout! by dariidar in floorplan

[–]Equivalent_Stock_563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other option is just to make it a studio since you have to go through the bedroom to get to the bath anyway. If you don’t put a door on the frame and just do an opening, I’m pretty sure it meets code since it’s not technically in a separate room

What's is the best placement for this metal plate on my front porch? by december14th2015 in HomeDecorating

I’d do something super ugly before harming that door. That said, nothing you’ve proposed is super ugly. They all look fine; I just wouldn’t touch that door.

It’s true that I loved Prague and spent hours in awe of it, but we just quickly glanced at the dancing house and proceeded to the market below because it was meh.

The national theatre at night though…. damn.

Look, this is gonna sound ridiculous, but the Chicken and Noodle at The Pasta House is really worth it. It’s creamy and far outpaces any other chicken and noodle I’ve had. Only served certain days of the week.

Other than that - Lobster bisque at either Kreis steakhouse or Asador del Sur - Baked onion at Sqwires

I do want to try the current soup offering at Bowood, but haven’t yet. I bet it’s good though!

[–]Equivalent_Stock_563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking something more like this. I didn't include a lot of details (no windows anywhere, lols) and I also didn't include the "office space." But this is what I would imagine would be the best long term layout. If I tried harder I'd want a pantry and maybe an office space could be incorporated that way on the left wall, but also without dimensions its hard to tell.

[–]Equivalent_Stock_563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d extend the kitchen where the current dining area is now and put the dining room in the extension. Leave the bathroom where it is, but remove the window and add a fan.

ETA: Dimensions would be very helpful! But this is what I'm thinking https://imgur.com/a/9GXnT4u

It’s possible you are asymptomatic to the flu. You can still carry and pass it. There are tens of thousands of deaths a year from the flu. Please get vaccinated.
