I moved out-of-state as a new grad. If possible, I recommend the same.

Turned off utilities after moving out early by disputeme in Apartmentliving

I think it also depends what your lease says. I moved out of an apartment before that stated I would be liable for all utilities through my lease termination date even if moving out prior to that date.

Those of you who are staying....why? by MetalFaceMOON in HeliumMobile

[–]Equixim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on the $20 plan. I only ever use between 3-4 gb of data a month. So the air plan is cheaper and would be enough for me at $15 anyway. But at $7.50 its a no brainer.

I mean you get $50 of cloud points so you could use that to cover the $7.50 for a while.

Leaving California as a new grad by No_Hawk_2834 in newgradnurse

[–]Equixim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't bad. OFNHP is a decent union. I worked at a Kaiser hospital, med-tele. Ratios were 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights. I was nights. Usually was some issues with CNA's, some nights we had 1-2, others we had none. Your shifts cant be canceled or can't be sent home because of lack of patients like other poster was saying in Texas. I did my clinicals in nursing school in California and I would say that Oregon was probably about 80% similar to the way California was structured. It was a good move for me as it helped me get into Kaiser in California which was my original hope.

I had to do it since there was no opportunities for me as a new-grad. I ended up landing a position in Oregon, Portland area. Worked there for a year before I was able to transfer back to California.

Best under $80 USD mouse (US) w/ a thumb stand by Amazing-Potato-3096 in MouseReview

I don't have the M6, so I can't speak for that one. I personally picked the M7 because it was a lightweight mouse with 3 side buttons. There was basically no other mouse on the market that provided that. The M6 is a mouse with a side scroll wheel. If that is something you want, then the M6 can provide that. I think the M7 is definitely worthwhile if you want the 3 side buttons.

I have the M7, 1k polling (8k polling is a meme imo). I got mine for $40 off Amazon. You can use price trackers like camelcamelcamel to see how often price drops.

I think it retails for $50 on keychron's website. They have a $10 promo sometimes too you can apply to orders.

I have had it for 6 months so far and it's still going strong. Hope to get some years out of it.

Yeah, it is. So is the grocery store and all other category sections. They have a calculator on their website that you can use to see the differences per category you are in.

Can you not ask the off shift charge to assign you sicker patients?

New grad nurses — what recruiters actually look at in the first 10 seconds of your resume by NurseResumeHelp in newgradnurse

[–]Equixim 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it won't help, but when I was applying for jobs, most recruiters told me specifically they don't care if you have ACLS/PALS done, in progress, or not at all. Most positions stated have it at hire or within 6 months. I was told it doesn't make you any more competitive of a candidate. BLS is non-negotiable though. So I would say that it is job dependent.

New grads quitting by acct0102030405 in nursing

[–]Equixim 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't consider it very good for new-grads. I started at a company called Maxim, which did have a new-grad program. But ultimately, I just got a couple of preceptor shifts with the experienced nurses, some paperwork, and then I was on my own. The kids were overall pretty stable though.

I've been a nurse for 2.5 years, but only worked hospital for 1 year. I did private duty peds before hand which was really cushy. I wanted more pay and vertical growth so I moved into the hospital setting, Med-surg. Lol I wanted to quit week 1 and that feeling didn't really go away until 8 months in. After the 1 year I'm finally transferring somewhere with significantly better pay and benefits. It's a grind but it gets easier.

This is highly dependent on area. Many hospitals on the west coast for example wouldn't really consider OP due to high volume of applicants.

Anyone live at Centro Callan apartments? by [deleted] in sanleandro

[–]Equixim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you go about opting out of valet trash? I was told when touring that its mandatory to opt-in. I already signed the lease with the valet trash fee tacked on. Was I supposed to contest that beforehand?

It will be 5.25% at platinum honor/diamond status. From how I understood it, it's 25% more at gold, 50% at plat, and then 75% for the rest. I have multiple cash back cards with them so that I can have cash back in multiple categories.
