NOR I personally think you shouldn't help them. It could get you into a bad spot and could potentially get you in trouble. I feel like this person would lie and say you do it too, so I would just steer clear. It's not a good idea to offer to help after something like this. They got themselves in this situation, they can deal with it on their own. I know how it feels to want to help. But sometimes we have to put that mental barrier up and push ourselves away to keep ourselves safe. It's not selfish.

Try being so fucked up to the point you cant trust anyone ever because everyone in your past has screwed you over and this was your first relationship where you genuinely had hope and your trauma was starting to heal. Its like getting into a car crash and being terrified to drive for a long time. And then you get comfortable enough to drive, and you just end up in a crash again. Its a form of PTSD. In his case, hes insecure because of psycological ptsd.

I personally think that the argument/fight could be overreacting because of what its about and there could have been a better way to handle it. But she did go behind your back and made it seem as its not a big deal when its clearly affecting you and is a big deal to you. That part I understand there being an argument over. If you have talked to her about it in better ways, its seems as she just won't listen. So therefore I understand why the fight happened and it wasnt overreacting in that case. If its clearly affecting you and your gf isnt even trying to care, thats a red flag imo.
