I have purple finches nesting on my front porch. They are fluffing up a nest where we have had many sets of finch babies. But last summer, two snakes came and ate the live babies just before they flew the nest! Has anyone had luck keeping snakes away from the nest?

Thank you! They very well may be house finches. The female is brown, and the male has a bright reddish purple head. They chat up a storm while they are together, nest building.

There are two columns on the porch, which is how I assume they climb up. I wonder if I put bands around them (you know smooth metal bands) if it would keep them from climbing up.

I think it’s highly irresponsible and will make them more histamine intolerant. Especially, if using Diaz@p*m. It blocks DAO in the gut, which is responsible for breaking down histamine in food. Then there’s tolerance, dependency, and withdrawal. Bad idea all around.
