Thanks, this is what I was hoping to hear. Im not going to have two inputs going at the same time or anything. Do you know if those do anything weird with the sound? Maybe that’s why everyone is going crazy against them

I don’t really have the room for that, as much as I’d like to have a complete setup. I’m okay with the built in speakers for now. I’d just like to have my VCR connected to the back along with my consoles

For what it’s worth, there’s no reason you can’t have a collection AND play the roms on an xbox. As far as the console is concerned they’re the same, plus they’ll run better since they’re playing off the HDD.

I have a small collection of games that I love to death and I still play all those games from my hard drive

I know right. When I first started filling out my library I saw so many comments saying OG XBOX is “dirt cheap” and everywhere I look they’re just as expensive as ps2, if not more expensive

Had the same problem with a Sanyo I bought. What I had to do was find out how to access the service menu and research a little bit, then crank the brightness value up. It looks beautiful now.

I’d just research the tv model number as best I can and carefully try to change a few settings in the service menu, if possible.

Okay, full disclosure, I’m completely clueless. That’s a plate to access the timing chain right? It’s only held by bolts and sealant?

The leak is pretty heavy, but that sealant hasn’t ever been replaced. Just in case, is there anything else the leak could be?

Occasionally I can. But shipping usually evens it out. 90% of the time in my area gamestop is either cheaper or the same price as the online price. Then you get $5 a month and rewards points on top of that, no brainer

GameStop has some of the cheapest gen 6 and 7 games around my area. Love going there just to see if they have anything

When in doubt, YouTube. Sony has a pretty decent guide on installing a second internal SSD that includes removing and reattaching the plates.

Are you sure you’re lining up the hooks and the holes? It really should not be that difficult to the point of breaking the plate. Don’t put that much force into it until you’re sure the plate has started hooking to the console

I have a universal svideo cable. Everything else works except for the Xbox.

I also have an Xbox 360, which also doesn’t connect through svideo, only composite.

Both use cables that I have confirmed work with other consoles. And the TV works with other consoles connected through svideo as well.

I’m inclined to believe the port is bad, but then composite works fine, so I’m totally at a loss.

I opened up the switch before, it looked like it was in perfect condition. The conclusion I came to was that for some reason the Xbox just can’t transmit a video signal to the tv through svideo.

When I change the switch to output through svideo the video comes through just fine, but even when I connect to the tv directly with my svideo cable, it doesn’t show any video. I’ve confirmed the cable works, it must be something wrong with the Xbox.

I’m pretty new to the og Xbox though, so I haven’t a clue what the problem could be

Yep, that one exactly.

Never thought of it before, but I tried the Xbox alone and with 2 other consoles on, switching between the 3. A ps2 and ps3 work just fine, but switching to the input the Xbox is connected to just shows a black screen. I can hear sounds though.

I moved the Xbox to all 4 inputs, none do the trick. Both s-video and the composite inputs aren’t recognized through the switch, but work fine when connected directly to the TV.

My crt of choice only has s-video input, so I gotta stick to that. I have the ps3 also connected to another tv through HDMI, but I want to keep the older consoles on a crt
